I've got a New JOB !

Yes my friends its been 2.5 months since I was downsized...lol.

Since that time I've done housework, cooked, went on a cruise and a few weekend get-a-ways, had hurricane visitors, but today I was offered a position and I accepted.

Yes, I'm happy about it.

But there's this little part of me that will miss my life of unemployment.

I have to admit that I enjoyed fixing breakfast in the morning and sending my man off to work and my daughter off to school. I've enjoyed picking up dry cleaning for him. I've enjoyed making him a meal and fixing him lunch. I've enjoyed going to my daughters school and giving a presentation. I've enjoyed doing nothing on some days and hanging out in my PJ's.

This was the first time that I havent been in the work-world in 20 years, and orginally I thought I would go crazy being home, but its really been ok. I actually like it.

There's sides of me that I dont even know sometime...scarry huh!

Great news!! But I can understand how good it felt to have that little sabatical! What I wouldn't give to have just a solid month off with no obligations other than what I want to do. :)

Ah Miss b, you had a well deserved break from the work-a-day world!

I've been working since I was 16 and I'm 53. I took about a year off to raise each of my little babies and that was it. SO I understand how the little break was satisfying.

Congrats on the new position. What will you be doing?

With my children I took off six weeks, but had planned to take off longer. At the end of the six weeks I was going crazy. I was so ready to get back to work. I think at that time I needed to interact with people more.
This time I have the interaction, but its been my choice. I could pick a PJ day and just be fine being at home alone.

I'll be a recruiting manager.

Congratulations, Miss B.

I'm still where you used to be: cooking for the missus, doing laundry, surfing Ageless, etc. ;)

I admit it: it feels good. :D

Thanks Harrison.

When you first started the un-employment life, did you think it would feel as good as it does?

Not really. It's easy to get wrapped up in your job, and the social life that goes with it, and so on.

So, I have a pleasant break for now.

I think thats what caught me by surprise. I didnt think that I would like staying at home, but I was determined to give myself a break and explore what I wanted to do next. I planned on staying home until the new year.

I looked at my resume and knew that I didnt want to focus so much on what I had done before, so I re-invented myself, and focused on what I liked doing from my past job. And waaa-laaa a job offer, of which I'm grateful to get.

At the same time I found being at home satisfying. This is a first for me, as being a stay home parent was never attractive to me before. Maybe I'll learn to envy you now Harrison. :)

For women sometimes balancing life and career can be a challenge. :)

Me too Amina.
