tinydancer 10-27-2005, 08:19 AM In all my travels I have met many people in the music industry which has been interesting. However, I have a short but very diverse list of musical artists that I have always wanted to meet and I have already been fortunate enough to sit down and chat with two of them.
First was Ted Neely (he played Jesus in the movie version of "Jesus Christ Superstar") we met in ND, of all places, and went out for coffee.........it was surreal and amazing.........he was everything I always hoped he would be. I had wanted to meet him because of his incredible voice and depth of character.
Next was Arlo Guthrie for his humor about life and his unique storytelling ability. He, too, was everything I thought he would be.........so very kind.
Now, the 3rd is Alice Cooper for his amazing stage shows and energy. He and I are both from Phoenix AZ. and went to rival high schools, albeit 14 years apart. Anyway, He does a night radio show that I listen to on my long drives home from work. I emailed him a week or so ago and he gave me a "shout out" on the radio and said we should get together next time he is in the DC area...........can't wait!!!!
Just thought I'd share............doing the happy dance :D

Ray 59 10-27-2005, 09:07 AM Would love to meet all of the members of U-2, the surviving members of Led Zepplin, Pink Floyd reunited, and would of loved to have met, John Lennon, and Stevie Ray Vaughn. This is just a few off the top of my head. :)
catlover 10-27-2005, 09:35 AM Joey Ramone (dead)-or any Ramone--I saw Tommy but the rest are dead
Joe Strummer (dead)-and/or any members of the Clash
John Lydon (Johnny Rotten) (still alive) and Sid Vicious (dead)--supposedly they were both rather nice guys (there was never any proof, apparently, that Sid killed Nancy)
Mike Ness (Social Distortion)
AFI
Rancid
tinydancer 10-27-2005, 09:38 AM I love Pink Floyd.
I did a piece for a ballet company with the London Symphony doing their version of "The Wall"........it was awesome.
Blessings, Tinydancer
tinydancer 10-27-2005, 09:41 AM When I was in "Cats" I was asked to do some PR which included walking Joey Ramone out onto the stage. No offense but he was an ***hole. Totally self consumed and downright rude.
No disrespect to the dead but that was my experience with him.

Science Goddess 10-28-2005, 05:39 PM ...would of loved to have met, John Lennon, and Stevie Ray Vaughn. )
These two would be on my list, as well.
Add to these:
Janis Joplin
Jim Morrison
Patsy Cline
Tom Petty
Loretta Lynn
and for totally shallow reasons:
Brad Paisley
fos4snt 10-28-2005, 07:13 PM Hmmmm... There aren't many musicians I'd really flip out about meeting and spending time with. There are a lot I certainly LIKE their music, but the idea of meeting them... just doesn't excite me all that much. I'm a lot like my Dad that way. They're just people...
I would, however, really enjoy spending a little while picking the brain of Travis from Dismemberment Plan, because I think he's a lyrical genius. I think I'd also very much enjoy spending an evening shooting the sh*t with Daniel Johnston, because I know he's a complete loon.. (as in, spent quite a bit of time in the looney bin!) And Gideon Freudman (Holiday Clocks ~ cellobop.com) would probably crack me up. Doctor, doctor won't you tell me please... do cats have knees?
But, most of all... if I were really hoping for a fun and FUNNY conversation, it'd be with Weird Al. :D
I do have to admit, though, that you already MET one performer who has always impressed me... Ted Neely. I'm a wee bit jealous of that. As a teener, I had the hugest crush on him and LOVED his voice. The guy who played Judas, too. Shoooo... that was such a good movie. That and Hair. HAHAHHAA... Those were my two favorite movies through my teens. I was a bit insane about the rock operas. ;)

tinydancer 10-28-2005, 07:36 PM Me too Fos,
Growing up, my friends and I would sing the entire rock opera of JCS and fight over which parts we would play On the album and in the original Brdwy show it was Ian Gillian of "Deep Purple" who played Jesus, he was awesome too.
IMO, no-one could ever out do Mr. Neely though, but then, I've had a crush on him since the early '70's so it was wonderful to meet him. I felt so strange, here I was sitting in a "Denny's", in Bismarck ND, talking to my version of Jesus Christ ( I would be jealous if I were you too :p ) He was touring with the 25th anniversary production of the show, his voice was still out of this world but he did miss the high note at the end of the song "In the Garden of Gethsemane". He's still hot too.....looks about the same as he did all those years ago. The little man with the BIG voice.
I have have met so many people in my life, some I admire and some I do not but it truly is fun to "pick the brain" of someone who's art you do admire.
Hair OMG......I begged my sister (13 yrs older) to take me to see "Hair" on Brdwy in 1969.......she wouldn't said I was too young :( ......went to see "Grease" instead. I have always felt deprived since then LOL and never did get to see it except in summerstock and the movie.
In the weird catagory, I had always wanted to meet Keith Moon, the drummer from the "Who" but then he up and died before I had the chance. I did attend a concert back in about '75 and caught Roger Daltrey's harmonica.
I guess maybe I do go gaga over certain talents.....you should see me in the presence of Gelsey Kirkland or Baryishnikov!
Blessings, Tinydancer
tinydancer 10-28-2005, 07:57 PM Just wanted to say thanks for indulging me in rambling on, this is one of my favorite subjects, and no-one around me seems to like those operas. My husband and daughter try to sound interested but.....
They do indulge me a few times a year : Thanksgiving: Alice's Resturant, got to do Arlo on that day!
XMas, JCS
Somewhere ,after Christmas, and before the next Thanksgiving : I can usually talk them into watching "Hair" and maybe "Tommy", if I'm lucky.
But since moving here I have not met many people who share my interests, a few, but not many at all
Anyone else have a story?
Blessings, Tinydancer
fos4snt 10-30-2005, 08:15 AM Tiny... without a doubt, we need to get together for that drink... ;) Or, even better, a couple hour viewing of Hair or JCS and dancing and singing around the place. What's the buzz, tell me what's happenin'...
And I totally agree about the movie version being my favorite. I saw one group perform it in DC many years ago... some small venue, and that was cool. But, NOT the same. Ted Neely as JC! Yeah... *ahem*
Oh, and my living room, which I just laid a nice laminate floor in, is IDEAL for dancing. Heck, yesterday Litical took my son out shopping for tools (for my sons birthday) and I put on Queen and rocked the house down. ROFLAO. Bohemian Rapsody!!!

thatgirl 10-30-2005, 10:04 AM it'd be with Weird Al.
Years ago, I used to run into Weird Al ALL the time--at least a couple times a week while I was out doing my errands. At one point he approached me and playfully asked if I was following him, I told him "Here, I thought you were following me..."
He seemed like a good guy.
fos4snt 10-30-2005, 10:23 AM He seemed like a good guy.
He's always seemed like a good guy to me... and even wrote a song with my namesake that absolutely had me in stitches when I heard it. ROFLAO. Of course, it wasn't written for ME, but you know... BWAHAHA.. I love people who can make me laugh!
~phos
tinydancer 10-30-2005, 05:01 PM Running into "Weird Al" on a regular basis is a very odd thought lol. I think I would have strike up a conversation with him.....just to see what makes him tick!
He seems like he would be a nice guy.
Fos, definitely.........let me know.
I worked all weekend and completed competition pieces for 4 of the older girls. The dancers here are behind but I think that I am finally starting to see some improvement  ......Well, maybe in a year or so, I can get them to a point where we can all have more fun. The girls are really sweet though....I am starting to get attached them and our journey into this training process together.
Don't know what my point was there lol......just got home from work.
Had to put off going to see my horse in PA 'til next weekend :(
Give me a call.
Well, we are going to watch one of the "Batman" movies, I think the one with Val Kilmer.
After Myan goes to bed we are going to watch " Brahm Stoker's Dracula"........Griff has never seen it........he is not big into the gothic horror stuff. I like it.
Ack, they are hollering for me to get off this PC.
Blessings, Tinydancer
