I.ve been playing off and on for about thirty years I have a Yamaha twelve string that I have had for twentyfour years and still sounds great and I own a Epiphone Genesis ( Gibson copy ) My rythm isn't bad, but I have always wanted to play lead, the blues to be specific. I downloaded a course to play the blues and I've learned quite a bit from it already, like the minor and major pentatonic scales, shuffles , phrases and fills, etc., but I feel I'm going to need more personal instruction eventually. I'm a huge fan of Stevie Ray Vaughn. I have the DVD of the two shows he did with Austin City Limits. Texas Flood just screams on this live version. Would love to learn all of his tunes and start a tribute band. Would love to talk to anybody about music in general, so hope to hear from you. ;)

I've played guitar for about 5 years, but I don't have nearly the rigs any of you guys have lol

I have an ibanez electric, takamine acoustic and tokai goldstar sound which is my favorite. As for amplification, I just own one amp, a Supro super which I like. I also use that little guitarport, its not bad, pretty convenient.

I know what you mean about stevie ray vaughan and the blues, you listen to eric clapton? I started listening to the blues from him.

I've been playing for about 25 years.....gulp.....but you'd never know it!!! haha. I still just have an old Guild acoustic. That's it! I've had many years, in the past 10 really, where I've hardly picked it up. Then I go on a binge. It's frustrating when I forget songs I used to play really well!!

I loooooove Stevie Ray Vaughan, too. I want to learn delta blues-style acoustic, slidey stuff. I'd like to take lessons for that, and learn some theory. I don't play any leads, unless it's an essential acoustic riff, then I'm fine. I love rythym guitar. I also sing. I do a lot of fingerpicking too, mostly mixing it up with rythyms and picking and stuff.....gee, this makes me want to play right now, but I'm off to a gig and I'm already a bit later than I'd like to be! (going to see New Orleans' Galactic. Funk!)

Come out and Play!

I took it for granted that this was an invitation to jam. Thats why I extended the invitation to do so via web cam. Maybe I misunderstood. Anyway the invitation is still open if you ever want to do so.

Love Eric Clapton....White Room, Strange Brew, Sunshine of Your Love, Layla, Wonderful Tonight....Love all that stuff. The Journeyman Back in 89 was amazing....Pretending, No Alibis, Before You Accuse Me, Running on Faith....a great album by Clapton. His Unplugged Album was great too. I would love to jam if your into it. I don't know any other way to do this other than webcam but if you find it too akward I'll understand.

You gotta buy that DVD SRV did at Austin City Limits. Can't say enough about it. Who are you into, musically other than SRV? What songs do you know? I 'd like to extend the same invitation to jam with you as I did with DaBollacks and MAR85. Like I said to the them I don't know any other way to do this other than webcamming, and if you are to uncomfortable with that I'll understand. Hope your into it.

My Dad was a jazz guitarist and now my 10 year old daughter plays.........she's pretty good too.
Right now, I am saying a prayer that my stepmom doesn't sell the only guitar that my Dad saved during the last few years when he was too sick to play. It is an old, mint condition Martin. I know it is worth a lot of money but the damn thing means so much to me and I would, one day, like my daughter to have it.
Actually, if you all could say a prayer, it would be highly appreciated.
I know she doesn't need the money for it and, again, it means sooooooo much to me.
Blessings, Tinydancer

I can send positive vibes... would that do?

Yeah, I play guitar. I own 3, a Fender acoustic (my first guitar), a Yamaha electro-acoustic and an Epiphone Les Paul. I only ever really play the Yamaha because the Fender is too big and bulky for me and I have got more heavily into acoustic stuff the last couple of years so I've barely played the Les Paul. I also have an acoustic at my g/f's, which she lovingly picked up for me at a yard sale for about 15 dollars! I re-strung it and cleaned it up a little whilst I was there last summer and I actually enjoyed playing it.

I'm not such a great player... I only got my first guitar 5 years ago, at 20 years old... and because it was bulky and difficult to play I barely played it for a year and a half. Then I bought a Fender Telecaster and played that a bit more and eventually decided to pick up a decent electro-acoustic 3 years ago when I came into some money after being made redundant. I've learned quite a bit in the last few years and I'm trying to write some songs myself now... but I'm still not that great! I don't like my Yamaha any more, the sound on it is awful. Sounds metally, especially when it's amped up. So I think I'm going to try and trade it in for something else. I'd love to have a Martin, the best guitar I ever played was a Martin. I'd also like to try a Takamine though, see what they're like. Did someone mention they have a Takamine????

Right on Rob.
TY for the good vibes :)
Yep, I know.......Martin is the best. Beautiful tone. My Dad was a perfectionist when it came to certain things and his guitars were a huge part of his life........if not all of it.

Hey Rob.

As you may of noticed I'm looking to jam with anyone who would like to do so. I think it would be a lot a fun jamming online. Great way to meet people who share a common interest. It was MAR85 that has the Takamine....I wouldn't mind owning one myself. I've played on a Martin myself.....they are great sounding guitars too. What are you into? I love Zepplin acoustic pieces...Babe I'm Gonna Leave You...Thank You...Over the Hills and Far Away...Tangerine...Stairway.... I know a few Floyd tunes, Stones, Bob Jovi, Tom Petty, Mellancamp, U-2,. I'm pretty versatile and always willing to learn a new tune, So whatta ya say, Rob ...Wanna jam? Oh ya I write my own stuff too!!!

Hey Tinydancer,

My prayers are in the air!!! I'm sure if you tell your stepmom how much it means to you, she will let you have it, especially if she see's your daughter is really into it and is really good. I'm sure she would like to see someone in the family continueing where your dad left off. Sending positive vibes your way!!! ;)

What am I into.... well, being from the UK I'm into a lot of British indie as well as folk, blues, rock and pretty much a bit of everything. My favourite bands/artists are The Stone Roses, The Verve, Jeff Buckley, Nick Drake, The Clash, Zeppelin, Hendrix, Dylan, Simon and Garfunkel. I love Led Zeps acoustic stuff, particularly That's The Way. In fact, Led Zep 3 is a masterpiece IMO.

I don't really play all that much of other bands stuff, I mostly just play around and make things up. The only things I can really play are quite a bit of The Stone Roses stuff and a few Verve songs, maybe the odd song here and there by other people. Dunno if I'm quite good enough to jam, I don't think I've got the equipment to do that with my computer anyway.

Nice to read about some people that like to play anyway. :)

Oh, and if you know Little Martha by The Allman Brothers, then that's the type of thing I'd like to be able to play. Come to think of it... there's also Bron-Yr-Aur too... how did I forget that?

We've been together in several versions of this band for 14 years now!! We're tight!!

Thanksfor the good thoughts Ray, unfortunately, it seems my stepmother is dead set on selling it. She said "that Joe (my dad) wanted it sold. I don't understand why but I have begged her so..........we shall see.
I wish that I had learned how to play when I was younger but I am a lefty and my dad didn't have much patience lol. Plus, I suppose, I was too into dance, horses, and being a brat, in those days :(

My God!!! You guys do all of these tunes in one night? Thats amazing!!. Your Time is Gonna Come is one of my favorite Zep tunes. Have you heard Jimmy Page and The Black Crowes, Live At The Greek. If not ,go out and buy it, it will blow you away. They do a great version of YTIGC on it. I know you have more than enough material to cover but if you ever looking for a change Zep always performed, Going to California, Thats the Way, and Bron Yr Aur Stomp back to back in their concerts with John Paul Jones accompanying Jimmy with his mandolin all in the same tuning too G G D G B D.This is taken from How The West Was Won. I'm sure it would go over big with your audience. It sounds like to me your lead singer would have the pipes to do it too. Cheers and I love all the stuff on your list. What did you think of The Edges guitar work on their last album How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb and did you like, Robert Plants, Mighty ReArranger?

I'm sorry to hear she feels that way. I hope in time she will change her mind. As far as your dancing and horseback riding are concerned, you followed your own path (The road less travelled ) and I know you're happier for it.
