While I read "In Your Eyes" thread about couples you don't like to be around, I realized that my best friend and her husband have completely CHANGED in the 2 years since I've met my Husband.
When I was newly divorced and they were still married, they were the PDA couple. She'd ASK him for kisses in a sickly sweet voice and he'd GO for it...I used to think they did this on PURPOSE to make me feel bad, but quickly dismissed that. I realized that just because I divorced, it didn't mean that my friends stopped living exactly as they did before.
Fast forward to the present---I've since re-married and we're very happy together. I've found that my friend and her Husband just don't want to be around us and when they are, it's very uncomfortable. They're not involved in PDA anymore and if I mention something sweet that my Hubby has done for me, they'll subtlely argue about how that doesn't happen in their relationship. Their demeanor has changed as well--when I was with my ex-Husband, they joked, laughed and talked about their life...now it seems like they're hesitant to talk about their personal life. Visiting with them is almost boring now--in fact, my Husband has asked me what I could have EVER had in common with these people....When I tell him that our relationship used to be gregarious and happy, he can't even believe it!
I'm beginning to think that they hate being around us because we're happy. When my marriage sucked (and after I divorced) I think it made them happy to be around me because in comparision, their marriage was good. I've toyed with the idea that perhaps they don't like my Husband, but I think that's not the case. He's quieter and more diplomatic than I am....he doesn't come off as an abrasive person or anything.
Opinions? Do you think they're just not happy anymore OR they NEVER were happy?
