Private or public school??

Private and Catholic. Went to all girls one for one year, hated it and tranferred to a co-ed private catholic school.

What were you like?? Cheerleader? Nerd? A league of your own? Or whatever else...

I was just typical I guess. Varsity track, Amnesty International Member, President of the Video Year Book. I wasn't the prom queen or anything, but I wasn't a loser either. Had my own lil click of girls mostly the same as me did an array of sports or clubs.

Looking back, do you think high school was the "time of your life"?

I honestly can't understand why people say this. Now that I am about to graduate from college, if anything, I can see college standing out as one of the greatest points of my life. High school seems like nothing compared to the fun and experiences I have had in college.

What were you like?? Cheerleader? Nerd? A league of your own? Or whatever else........cheerleader, class treasurer, most school spirit, silliest sophomore, funniest freshman. i had my lil group but i wasn't in "the" click. i liked to party too much and 'they' looked down on that. of course now, they're all doing those things and i'm not, lol. got it outta ma system. funny thing is tho, i got along with EVERYBODY, which is why i got all those stupid yearbook things, i just didn't socialize with too many of em.

Looking back, do you think high school was the "time of your life"? ....nope, right now is. :D

Ha ha, I'll spill. Good thread. 4 high schools, 4 years. 1993-1997. All public.
Baseball, then softball. Cheerleading one year, Pep band marching band and had a high school garage band. I had a nice racket at two schools where I signed up for ski team, would get through one or two gates, deliberately spill and get DQd so I could hang out in the snowboard park for the rest of the meet. Theatre and speech/debate. Although in theatre I liked tech work and set design much mroe than acting. Class President once, which entailed organizing the fundraising and the asthetic execution of the senior prom (headed all the committees basically). My dirty little secret was I turned a blind eye to the stuffing of the Prom King and Queen ballot box by non seniors. And to this day, I still find it funny, even though the wanna be prom queen has prolly forgotton all about it. I was part of that whole gang of hippie kids who smoked pot and ate tabs, played hackey sack at lunch, dressed in cords and hemp and drove in vans to Primus or Pearl Jam concerts. Wasn't the time of my life, but college was unbearable to me. Took nearly a full academic scholarship to a 35K per year liberal arts school. I thought it'd be cool at first, but it turned out to be one of those places with a bunch of kids in North Face jackets and Jeep Cherokees who all lived "just outside of Boston" and would scoff at you if you didn't like Catcher in the Rye or the Yellow Wallpaper and would tell you a lot about the "required skills on today's job market" despite never having a job. It sucked. I quit after 3 1/2 years so I could get a State Univeristy of New York degree instread of getting branded with that pretentious crap.

What year did you graduate?? 1984

Private or public school?? Public with a private mentality.

What were you like?? Cheerleader? Nerd? A league of your own? Or whatever else... I was basically a social outcast. If they didn't hate me because my mother was crazy, they hated me because I skipped a couple of grades or because we had money or just because they could. I had four friends in high school and that was about it. At the same time, academically, I was way ahead of most of the others and I excelled in areas most of them couldn't - I led our drama team to several awards as well as our chorus as well. I found a decent niche in our drama department. We put on several musicals a year and I starred in several. My favorite, though, wasn't really a starring role, it was secondary. Queen Aggravain in Once Upon A Mattress. I won an award and ended up with a casting request from a NY agent. Unfortunately my dad wouldn't let me go to the audition, so who knows how that could have turned out. . .

Looking back, do you think high school was the "time of your life"? No. Other than the musicals, it was pretty much hell and the only gratification I have from it is that in the 20 years since I graduated I've made more than all of them put together and have achieved far more than any of them ever will.

I love Pearl Jam! Although in my time line that was middle school

I graduated from a Vocational Tech school in 2000
Ran cross country freshman year got a Varsity letter
Was in the nerd shop (Drafting/Computer Aided Design) so I got classified as a nerd although I was more or less in the league of my own. Semi-popular as the guy who was 'unique' and I talked to everyone.

Overall, high school sucked, but I look back on it now as a learning experience. I still like being in a league of my own.

I wasn't really anything...I wanted to be a cheerleader, but I chose dance instead...I wasn't anything special, nothing anyone would remember me for.

I hated high school, and college isn't much better (I go to a community college...not a Uni, which would probably be better, but I feel like I'm still in HS!). I hate being in school...I'm ready for my career.

I graduated in 1980 when I was 16. I absolutely HATED school !!!!!!! private, god damn private school.

I was a trouble maker, a rebel, a leader, I used to make a mess out of the class and all the students loved me.

I still receive e-mails from ex-classmates who find me by google-ing my name.

What were you like?? Cheerleader? Nerd? A league of your own? Or whatever else...: I was an adult student and didn't have time for extra-curricular activities because I also had a full-time job and the kids in the school were, well, kids and I was married so socializing with the kids wasn't really something I took interest in.

Looking back, do you think high school was the "time of your life"?: uh, no. I went to three high schools and I had a few friends but I was really too busy working after school and spending weekends with my boyfriend (who was 6 years older) than to have that sort of relationship with my school.

Cheerleader, Drama, Editor of the school paper. I was relatively popular, but had friends on either side of me, popularly speaking. I look back now and wish I'd hung out with the more unique, interesting people like the science nerds or the chess club since that's who I've become. *grins*

Looking back, do you think high school was the "time of your life"?Nope, never have and never will.

I started off pretty popular. Not "Mean Girls" popular, but I had a group of about 20 that I hung out with all the time. Got asked out a lot and stuff, that kind of thing. But... a ton of bad things happened to my family. As a result, I got really depressed and became really weird. I started hanging out with a bunch of skaters from another school. They did drugs and stole stuff. I was so unbelievably lost, and my parents seemed to stop caring about me (which they didn't, I realize now, but it seemed that way at the time... they were just really preoccupied with some other stuff, my mom had a severe car accident, my dad had a horrible accident, the money issue, etc.). So at my Catholic academic school, I no longer fit in at all because I couldn't concentrate on school. I was so depressed I ended up dropping out for a while (if you knew me, you'd know how odd this is for me).

Looking back, do you think high school was the "time of your life"?
Yeah, the WORST time of my life! Seriously. But it had to do with all the tragedies that happened to my family at the time. It was seriously awful and at times completely unbearable.

What were you like?? Cheerleader? Nerd? A league of your own? Or whatever else... I was in the "popular" group. I did my fair share of partying and a lot of other stupid things. I did dance all four years and cheerleading my freshman year. I was friends with everyone though. If you asked anyone I went to high school with they would say I was the nice girl, which I am proud of. I was also quiet but got a little crazy sometimes.

Looking back, do you think high school was the "time of your life"? I seriously think high school was a complete wast of time. I think I could have finished high school in 1 year from all the things I actually remember learning and use in my daily life.

I graduated class of 2000!

Went to public school.

I was a sucky band nerd...did winterguard....was so bad at softball that they let me be the manager...(thats what I lettered in) I was a girl scout all through that time and worked at Dairy Queen....so NO...I was NOT popular. lol. I had (and still have them) friends though.

Definately wasn't the time of my life. I spent most of it wishing I was in college.

Green Eyed Girl-

Well now hello fellow alumni. Guess we have more in common than just green eyes....

Merlove! Hi fellow soccer nut!

Year Graduated:1990

Public school system

I was a jock. Varsity soccer four years running. But I also got straight A's. I was friends with everyone, which is not to say that everyone liked me.

I LOVE being an adult. You could NOT pay me to go back to HS. I was swarmed with peer pressure encompassed by my parent's divorce made for a bad combo. I did however love the school work and learning. Still do. I was never more thankful than when I graduated and was able to separate myself from all the negativity of peers. It was then that I begun living.

What were you like?? Cheerleader? Nerd? A league of your own? Or whatever else... I was more or less one of those who got along with all crowds. I was a "hippie" in high school so I was kinda considered cool. I didnt hang out with any particular group other then my best friends and we were able to be friends with anyone really. I did however have something that no one else did...and that was my very first boyfriend and first love of my life. He was another "hippie" college student who was a georgeous Greek god named Apostolos...I WAS the envy....(we ended up going together for nearly 10 years) (still in contact with his family though, he passed away from cancer at the age of 29)

Looking back, do you think high school was the "time of your life"? I dont know that it was the time of my life. Looking back I wish I hadnt done some things and done some other things...I did have a good time. The concerts in the 70's rocked big time and I was often attending them either in Oakland or SF.

Cool Thread IYE...thanks for the memories!! :D

I graduated in: 2002

School type: Public

High school ranking: shy nerd! Not a brilliant kid, but studied very hard...so now I'm pretty smart. :) I got picked on a lot by other kids, and didn't have many friends.

High school was the WORST years of my life.

Glad it's over! I grew up quickly, everybody was so rich, rude, and immature. I hated that. College was significantly better as I got some freedom and a good education. I also got away from an abusive environment. People ARE still immature at college, it has become an extention to high school. Lots of people in college don't belong there, at least not right away. Lots of lifelong friends you'll meet at college though! :)
