(BANG) - Paris Hilton is reportedly set to launch a pop career.


The sexy socialite is said to be in talks with British music mogul Pete Waterman, who masterminded Kylie Minogue's early pop career, about moving into the music industry.

A source is quoted in Britain's News of the World newspaper as saying: "Paris has approached Pete and they are discussing things.

"She knows what a genius he is and is desperate for him to get her project off the ground."

Last month, it was revealed the hotel heiress and Nicole Richie are set to star in a fourth series of 'The Simple Life'.

The reality TV show was axed from the US Fox TV network last month - but has been picked up by E! Entertainment Television.

The girls will be seen playing housewives in the new season, which is tentatively titled 'Till Death Do Us Part'.

The 24-year-old stars are set to appear on the show separately after being locked in a bitter feud for months.

I think it's a competition thing with Paris and Nicole. They are both vying for the most money and trying to use their *publicity appeal* to launch a career in show business. The have to find something they can do that the public likes. Singing? I don't know. Have you listened to some of those little girls lately? They aren't all Christina and Britney with voices, some of them have made hot careers in music and movies using a Marilyn Monroe image.
