I Loved the song "I wear my Sunglasses at Night" song...by Cory something or other....

I even had a party with that theme, and everyone attending had to wear Sunglasses to get in....Man...that was some party too, we put out fliers and everything and everyone showed up dressed so cool with there sunglasses on.

I was rather upset though the following year when an aquantence of mine (who came to the first party) threw one herself and failed to invite me.

ROFLAO @ Bella!!! BWAHAHAHAHHA...

... couldn't stand the 80s. Lived through them. *shudder* Can't stand the music, even now. A few good bands got under the radar of the "pop" culture of the time and stand out in my mind as "good" bands, but if it was played on the radio back in the day, its on my "I swear if I ever hear that song again, I will throw up on who ever turned that crap on" list.

*shudders deeply and walks away*

Omg you're so cool I love you!!! The song is by Corey Hart, btw.

That sounds sooooo fun. For my 18th birthday party I had an 80's theme party. I just went as an 80s girl...had a hot pink shirt, keds, scruch socks, mom's old jewlery....a couple of my friends did some cool costumes: Don Johnson, different versions of madonna, the chick from the come on eileen video in the overalls. My friends made 2 wonderful cakes one was pastel green icing and said material girl and had lucky charms on it. and the other one was hot yellow and said 80's and had fruity pebbles all over it. when i got home for break, i can see if i can scan some pics to show you.

I think 80s music has a fun over all beat I think it is great how it is, so vibrant and i also think DJ's can do a lot with it mixing it.

Haha...

Only difference between you and me is I DID IT in the 80's ;)

Just like any other era, a lot of good music came and went as did a lot of crap....

DB.....LOVED and still do Billy Idol

Saw Berlin live and watched the lead singer climb the scaffolding dressed in pretty pink fru fru while singing No More Words....

Ha....Loved Huey Lewis and the News, but then they were an local band back then and used to give out free concerts (those were the day eh?) and then I moved on to seeing them live in SF...but they are one of those bands now I cringe when I hear them, they got overplayed so much. (sorry DB but your song I Ran is on that list too)

There was also U2 with the Joshua Tree album (BIG thumbs up there)

The Police (another one Ill scream if I hear again....)

The Cars

Jeese, and just when I think I led a boring life, I think about some of the stuff I did in the early 80's. I was in my early 20's. I would take off and spend the weekend sleeping on the beach in San Luis Obisco where I had friends at uni, free concerts in Golden Gate Park....

Dont have to live like a refugee - Tom Petty YAH!!

Cindi Lauper "Girls just want to have fun!"

The Eurethmics..(yikes on the spelling there)

Enjoy yourself now IYE...Theres plenty of time to grow up. and if your lucky, you never will.........

How about DEVO? Whip it...whip it good! :)

(wont even get into some of the things I did as a teen in the 70's)

The ex DEVO drummer Alan Myers is a very good friend of mine. We still spend some time together when I go to LA each year. He's an electician now but still plays and performs with some bands.

I met him in the early 80-s and regularly went to their concerts even though I wasn't a big fan. The drinks at the backstage after the concerts was cool though. Always called Alan "professor" :p

I think a lot of people miss the songs or just like remember...u should see this bar i go to thursdays they only have a main room and it is filled with college people it plays house music and rap.

and then saturdays and fridays it has 3 rooms...rap, house and 80s...saturdays is just a big nite out in the area it's in so it is very croweded, but friday they other 2 rooms are very slow, but you can't even move in the 80s room, the people love it.

Same here!!Do you know what's so funny.MY Ym was born in 1985 so he missed out on all the great music from the 80's.A few weeks ago I send him a cd with nice slow songs(which were all from when I was a teenager)and he loved him.So now I can enjoy my fav music with my YM.

I did get to dance to Eddie Money this weekend and it made me happy :)

I like those VH1 shows as well.

I was having a discussion with a bunch of DJ's this weekend...apparently a lot of them feel the 80's is the best decade of music even if 80s is not their area of DJ-ing. The new big thing around the dance scene here is taking the origional 80's vocals and mixing it was a newer house beat, omg some stuff is so well done. I heard the best verision of tainted love last nite.
