What's your desktop look like?

Here's mine. It's a project I've been working on for several days and finally completed it. It's of my family. And they insisted I put 'me' in it.

Back in the '80's there was a political cartoon called "Bloom County". Bill the Cat was the resident "presidential candidate and 'vegi-sexual' who was having an affair with Jean Kirkpatrick and under went the indignity of hosting Donald Trump's brain after the Trump yacht anchor fell on his head". He was quite the cartoon character back then. . .

Tim's desktop is the evil monkey from Family Guy... mine's boring (I usually keep the Windows issued Stonehenge picture up; right now it's just some wavy green thing) but, hey, I'm home with the kids today and you've inspired me, Lynn! I'm gonna get busy one one like your's!

It's a photo that my boyfriend took with his digital camera when we were having a wine spritzer thingy at the airport before my flight home in August. We had been up most of the previous night to squeeze in every last possible waking moment together, that's why we look like zombies :p

Mine is a great pic that a friend sent me...

It's a mom and dad with their daughter...the mom and daughter have white shirts with holes cut out for their "girls" and the girls are all dressed up like minnie and mickey mouse.

Yes...I'm a pervert. *grin*

I like to think I'm sticking it to the mouse.

I have mine organized as per application type, ie: graphic editors, video editors, media players, hardware configuration shortcuts, scanning software, text editors, games, favourite directories and communications software (IM's/webcam/email).

It just makes it easier to quickly access what I want when it's in "proper order" :)

But I have a Mac, maybe that's why. All of those applications are in the finder and what's on the desk are just files that I save for a while, then I either toss them in the dust bin or keep them in a file.

You press Ctrl+Print Scrn, then you open up Paint then you past it in with hitting Ctrl+V... and voila :D

Lynn, I LOVE this thread! Great idea. And I really love what you did with your desktop. Did you go to a particular website to do that? I'd love to do the same with my photos, too.

I always have a photo of either Remi or one of my kids on my desktop. This is what's on mine right now. This is Remi.

http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2004-1/575257/DesktopImage.jpg

btw, I agree with Kelley -- Charlotte looks like Hilary Swank, only more beautiful in my opinion.

Mark, you can follow the instructions Aina provided, or if you have a Print Screen button on your keyboard, you can hit that while viewing your desktop and then paste it into Paint. You then have to house it on a photo hosting site and then insert it into your post.

Skibunny sweetie, I am definitely gonna resize your photo for you. :D

whiterose
01-09-2006, 07:37 PM
Well, I did see it until I posted my post, and now only an X. I even went into her post to retrieve the URL, but that site where it's housed is down, which may explain the red X. I PM'd her and gave her my email address. I'll resize it for her if she wants me to.

Hehe :o I'd post mine but I'm waaaaay too emabarrassed about the clutter. I have a messy messy desktop - in fact you can barely seen the pic behind all the mess.

My picture is from last summer's field season - it's the view of my zodiac anchored along shore taken from the top of a cliff I was working on. It keeps me inspired during the boring winter (stuck in the office).

Thanks Katrina! :)

I just used photoshop to create my desktop. I have elements 2.0 and photoshop 6. I just used 2.0. I like it best. Then took a bunch of photos, and created individual frames for each, then stuck it all together to make the collage. I do stuff like this all the time. Valentines day last year I made hearts for everyone. If you want help doing yours let me know, I'd be glad to help.

CabinFever just shove all that junk in a folder and get your desktop on display. Come on, don't be shy! ;)

http://img25.imageshack.us/img25/2082/desktop0to.png

I've been using that desktop background for awhile. Believe me, it fits....*ahem*

And I keep all my shortcuts in organized folders. Applications for general applications. System Maintainence folder has my system utilities in it. Game shortcuts, obviously.

The only app that doesn't go in the folder is my Trillian Pro, cause I use that so much. And I hide most of my icons in the system tray...once again, only my trillian shows. Hid my sound, NOD32 antivirus and Kerio Firewall icons.

Nope, not that I know of. I notice a difference when I have them all sitting there nilly willy. However, when I have them in folders...like you do and like I do....it is quicker. Doesn't take as long to draw all of those icons.
