Oh My Gawd.....

I just had 7 beautiful men come to my home and completely finish my house for me........I simply cant believe this!

Ive been working on my house for nearly 5 days and was only able to complete 3 rooms, these guys did in two hours what I might not ever have gotten done for the next month....

Not only did they clean, mop, and squeegie my floors, move my furniture (whats left) out AND back in again....they stacked my firewood, cleaned the debris in my yard, and gave me some really cheerful smiley faces.....

I just wanted to say thank you to them and couldnt...why? because I was afraid Id break down and cry, which I did anyway. I can now go take a hot bath and now know I dont have to come back out to get cold wet and dirty again. I can have my kids come home and actually spend the night tonight!

Im so happy and so greatful..... :D

**away to take a hot bath!!**

Well that's very sweet, Michele! :D

Congratulations on getting everything squared away. You'll have to invite those guys to a nice, big 4th of July BBQ that you throw. ;)

What can I say.....

that was the best shower Ive had in ages.....just knowing I could get warm and clean and not come back out and get cold and dirty again.... :D

Harrison, if I could invite them to a bbq I would, but they came from a town about 80 miles north of Sacramento, near Chico. Ive absolutely no clue where it is. And have you ever done something for someone with no expectation? I think this, for them, was about giving not receiving, no expectations....

(on a side note though....Id have seriously had naughty thoughts about any of them.... :p )

Cooooooommmmmmmmmme Baaaackkkkkkkkkkk pleasssssssssssssssssse!!!

LOL

I hadn't read your original thread until you posted this one. Wow, what an awful mess. :( Am so glad you were able to find some help. Isn't it great when our faith in humanity is restored through the kindness of strangers who do something for you "just because"?

Aww ty WR....

Im a firm believer in Humanity. I know theres always, down deep, something good in everyone. Its just harder for some to let it out then others...

But then there are some......... that I must confess confuse the heck out of me

Anyway, at the end of the day, Im thankful for who I am and the things I do. Id much rather be compassionate and understanding then be vindictate and hateful....and I WILL pass these good deeds that were given to me today to someone as when the time comes....

Moral of the story? There is a silver lining in every cloud.

How many hot guys? 7! DAMN GIRL! Lucky seven. How you managed to stay composed is beyond me!

Otto...you couldnt possible know....

Im not a large woman, but yes I do carry a few extra pounds on me, and having nursed 3 kids...more things have gone south on me then I can to admit...

That being said.....when they got here I was wearing an old funky pair of my sons sweat pants, an loose ugle shirt....and NO bra, not only that my clothes were already soaking wet and filthy.....Im surprised they didnt turn and run .......

They were all farmers who arent busy this time of year and came down "just to help out" where they could.

They, today, were my guardian angels, they came at a point where I thought I couldnt last any longer, and they just "took over" for me.

And these men were fiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnnnnnneeee specimens too!!!! lol :D

LOL at both Katrina and Otto. :D

But Michele, that is soooo wonderful. I think I would've broke down and blubbered right in front of them. And I agree with Otto about the moral of the story. ((((hugs to you))))

Well, the good news today is....

My house is clean and warm, though it kinda ehcoish form the lack of stuff......

As sore and tired as I am, Im heading off to work today, where I shall probably meet up with ma "farmers" again. I work for a community resourse/service agency and we are and will be pretty much the lead agency in flood recovery programs (its so nice to have an "in"). Once the rest of the agencys (Salvation Army, Red Cross, County, etc) leave town...it will be just us. Had I not been a victom myself, I would have been at work helping out myself too.

Im feeling much better today though. Still a bit disorganised, but warm and clean!!

Since last Tuesday, Ive had people buy me dry firewood, bring me food, help cleanup in the house and yard, bring me MORE firewood, offer me long term housing (if I needed it) offers to take my pets, my neighbor offered up a bedroom or two for me and the kids if needed, a friend offered her house if I needed...last Friday a friend dropped of a "pre-made" turkey dinner that all I had to do was heat. The list just goes on and on....

I have to say in all this, other then one complete mental break down at the Red Cross, Ive maintained a really positive and cheerful attitude :D All I have to do is think of those less fortunate to realize how lucky I am...

Just another adventure....only this one included 7 yummy men under my control..."Mop there" "Stack that here" etc.....LOL....Every womans fantacy!

Most of all Ill just be glad to get to normal again....Anyone got a spare couch?

Wey Hey....

Two of my Angels showed up to work to day to get further assignments and I got to thank them (about a million times) profusely for helping me (all without shedding a tear)

Im also glad they got to see me as a real person, dressed nicely and acting professional (well, as professional as I get anyway)

I think they really realized how thankful I was....

Not only that, the county came today and cleaned all the debri (couch, mattresses', book shelves included...) off the side of the road where the guys stacked it...

Im just amazed how many wonderful people are out there......

Michele, I call it "West Coast Love!"

:D

(j/k -- we see it everywhere, I'm sure) Growing up in CA, however, I was impressed with peoples' willingness to stop and offer total strangers a hand with a broken-down vehicle or whatever.

I know what you mean Harrison.....My ex-boyfriend who was from Scottish was astounded at how nice west coasters are.....

At the same token though, Ive traveled many places, and have ALWAYS been treated nicely. I can give many stories of the kindness extended to me from total strangers in other lands....
