My son is getting his teeth in of course.. Hes 18 months of age.. He has four on the top and three on the bottom and four molars coming out...

Well on the bottom the one next to the first two never came out... WHen I asked my late boyfriends brother Who is a dentist he said teeth should come out together... IF one ont he bottom comes out the one next to it comes out like that... so He said my son is probably missing that tooth ....i was like WHAT LOL.... Has this happened to anyone? and when their adults came in did they get it then? or mayvbe just get that tooth late?

I'm afraid I can't help you with that Mer. But I remember when I was young, one boob came out before the other and my older sister said in order to tease me that I will only have one boob and I was terrified

I'm sure there's a solution to any tooth problem. You have a healthy, beautiful darling boy :)

ps:just to reassure you, I have 2 boobs :D

Mer-
As a mother of a 2.5 yr old I can say that that is completely false. All teeth come in at different phases. My son still does not have his 2yr molars, which are thankfully some of the last ones. My son had gaps in his teeth here and there and I have seen it in other kids too. Don't worry about it.

Umm...what do the X-rays' show you? I don't understand why this is such a mystery. My first child had one tooth that was fused as two above as babyteeth and came in properly as an adult tooth but that's the only anomaly we've seen....but we knew with x-rays :|

Won't your dentist take x-rays? Maybe you should find a paediactric dentist. Mine's awesome but he's in Toronto and I doubt you are local.

I hope he's okay :(

Hi Mera, try not to worry about it too much. I can't really remember what happened when my daughters teeth were coming through but with my son I'm almost certain at least one of them came out seperate to the one beside it.

With my son we're now waiting to see what happens as he gets all his adult teeth. The last time he visited the dentist we were told that he might have to have a few teeth pulled as his gums don't look big enough for them all to come through. You can guess my reaction to that, how can someone with a mouth the size of my sons not be big enough to fit all his teeth? :D

I'm not a dentist (don't even play one on TV). But it seems to me that most biological processes don't happen with such precise timing. If I were forced to place a bet, I'd bet it's possible for the teeth to come out at different times.

However, even if that is true it doesn't necessarily mean there aren't any problems. If you are concerend, you should get a second opinion by making an appointment with another dentist.

I work in a dental office as a dental assistant and from what I have seen and learned ...toddler's teeth come in at different times and sometimes the ones on the side come in 1st......it is uncommon but usually there is no reason to worry and they will eventually cut.

As for seeing a dentist at such a young age...we have never seen a child under the age of 4...where I work is not a pedo office but there is no way to get a 1 and a half year old to sit in dental chair and have his teeth looked at or have x-rays taken. :)

Thanks Amanda!!!!

I know I can't keep my 19 month old to sit for more than 5 min LOL
