25 days of miserable lousy rain...

I am soooooo sick of it. All this week I've been asking myself how can I stand living here any longer. I can't do anything outside unless I want to get drenched or I wear plastic clothes. I'm fed up with the mud; washing the dogs' feet everytime they come back inside from going potty; wading ankle deep in muck to let in or out the horses; shivering because of the constant dampness.

I want some shunshine....... :(

Amen!!

I was just thinking about this... and CabinFever up in British Columbia is in the same jam.

On the positive side, there was a bit of sunshine and some clear skies yesterday. I went for a walk in the park, and it was heavenly! No drizzle, no rain.

Now it's back again! :(

lol Poor Lynn!

Not full-blown sunshine. It was just a bit of sun struggling to come out from behind the clouds, but you could definitely see the glow. :)

LOLOL, are you sure it wasn't some feeble street light trying to glow through the dense fog?

Maybe so. I know being up against the foothills makes a big difference in rainfall.

Well, time to don the plasticwear again. I'm off to town.....

It better not be made in China, Otto!

Actually, it's okay if it is since their stuff is everywhere; just try not to do that with the next parka.

I think mine was made in Taiwan.

I totally understand your feeling about the PNW. Lived in Portland, OR for seven years, and just could not take it anymore. The only reason I stayed that long is my sister and dad are there. But is a very beautiful area, and the summers are wonderful. Also loved the city of Portland, everything there you could want.

When the days of drizzle went on and on (8 months out of 12), I would drive over to East Oregon for the weekend looking for sun, and there usually was sunshine past Mt. Hood. The drive on I-84 east is a great one, Multnomah Falls, Bonneville Dam, The Dalles, Hood River, etc.

Well said, lencarol...

The summers here are gorgeous and make it all worthwhile. Nice people too, by a long shot. None of that mean-ornery-Pike-County stuff that Sdoah and Whiterose were talking about in a different thread. LOL

I was driving home today in the absolutely miserable rain and thinking to myself "Well, some places worry about drought and this sure ain't one of 'em! Thank God for that!" :D

Try to look on the bright side of things, ya know?

Always good to be optimistic about the weather, ha! The people are really nice, and laid back. I always wondered if lithium was put in the water....so mellow. We always have to worry about drought here in the Panhandle. Have had several fires in Texas due to the dry weather and wind combination. We only have certain days to water the lawn, and can get fined if caught watering on our off day! And no washing one's car here, ever.

I've visited the PNW (Seattle) and it is a great place--beautiful scenery and a progressive social scene. But, I could never live in that area. I start feeling down if it is overcast (never mind raining) for more than about a day at a time. Rain I just can't stand, period! Sometimes I think even LA has too wet a climate. During rainy spells I've thought of moving to Las Vegas, or Phoenix, or the Sahara Desert! I like that bright hot sun!

Poor Lynn! I feel so sorry for you. We have had a lot of rain here near San Francisco, too, but nothing like that. I am sick of it. It will rain tomorrow and Saturday. It is supposed to be non-rainy on Sunday. It had better be because I have to move everything off my lower and upper decks because they are going to be demolished and rebuilt by the condo association. The work starts on Monday.

Yes, Dave, I agree with you about moving. I am dying to move to a warm area! I just can't find a warm place with hills that has affordable real estate. :(

I think this side of the mountains is beautiful, when you can see it, but I'd rather live where there are more sunny days than rain. Used to live in Tucson. Hmm, maybe I should move back.

Why don't we all just go buy our own tropical island!!

I stayed near Tucson (Globe) for about six months, and really loved the area. You can always depend on the sun to come out, and I love the desert. Tucson a really nice city too for its size--lots of money there. :)

LLBean was actually a pretty big holdout. Up until a few years ago, they tried really hard to sell stuff made in America but their prices were too high, so just like everyone else they had to go overseas. I really didn't mind paying 40 bucks for a flannel shirt. My parka is from Bangledesh. I'm not sure if all the componants were made there...but anyway...

I was reading this thread and this music goes on the radio at the same time...
From Gary Allan...

.....
"Rainy Night In Georgia"
and "Kentucky Rain"
"Here Comes That Rainy Day Feeling Again",
"Blue Eyes Cryin" in the "Early Morning Rain"
They go on and on, and there's no two the same
Oh it would be easy to blame all these

I'm sorry Lynn :(
I just got an e-mail from my Mother and Father in Law were they were complaining about all the bad weather...
Here in Norway we have also had a couple of days with rain and all the snow has turned into black ice...

I am an unusual fellow. I love rain. There is nothing like making love in the rain.

Anyway, I used to feel this way till I started to think that rain is what was giving me flues.

Rainy days are very welcomed in a dry climate, like Arizona, New Mexico, Nevada, Texas, Oklahoma, etc. So a nice thunderstorm is great, but they pass through quickly, give the ground a drink and then move on. In the PNW it is day after dreary day of the stuff. There are even special stores which sell the SAD lights, I found one and got the light bulbs, etc. I hate being sad or depressed, is not in my nature, so had to move BACK to my beloved sunny Texas and so glad I did. Now will never leave. :)

I like the rain, too.
I really missed rainy days when I lived in Phoenix.
But when we have too much gloom here (like we do at this time of year), then I love seeing a beautiful, sunny day.

When it's cold in the winter I long for warm summer days at the beach, and when it's hot in the summer I long for cold, snowy winter days. When it's snowing, I love to look out my window and watch it come down. It's like being in a snowglobe.

Here we get the best of all the seasons!

We get a short period of hot sun, usually in July through the first half of September and even have threats of forest fires. But I rarely wish for rain even then. If it rained during the night then was sunny during the day that would be perfect.

@ Aina, that's right, your new relatives are in the same boat, almost literally. LOL

@ lencarol, I was just a kid when I lived in Tucson but I remember when we did have a good hard rain my parents would tell us to stay out of the creek bed because of flashfloods. We had a creek bed that was dry all year around right behind our house where we kiddies played a lot. Don't remember any flashfloods though. But the fear was there!

Lynn, I'm in the same boat. I actually don't mind the rain per se - it keeps people away from the park near my house. I like having it all to myself and my dogs! :D But, I'm not living in the best situation right now and the rain is making it soooo much more difficult. It takes a lot to stress me out, but I'm stressed to the max with this. I spend so much time trying to dry off my dogs and am constantly washing their blankets. I'm trying to look at the positive things - like at least my roof is not leaking anymore.

We did have a few minutes of sort-of sunshine this morning and it was looking like it was going to clear up for the day - and then we had a downpour. I'm just trying to be patient and wait for summer....it will come eventually....

This morning I was sitting in Starbucks (based in Seattle) reading a newspaper article about the endless rain up there. I looked up from the article about Seattle rain and out the window. Stopped at the light was a Seattle's Best Coffee truck bearing the slogan "It's Pouring in Seattle." To top it all off, it happened to be drizzling outside. :)
