Evita (Madonna)

I have to give credit where credit it due, Madonna worked HARD to improve her voice for the role of Evita and she did an AWESOME job. I have no idea why the critics panned her so badly. And that ending! I'm hard as nails and twice as tough, but when she stands before her people the last time, barely able to speak, and says/sings "I [exist] only to bring you to the heart of Peron. (and) I am Argentina." .... Man, if the tears don't spill down your face for that, you ain't human!

I have that one but on VHS and I nolonger have a VCR :mad:
Me to thought that Madonna did a really good job playing the role Evita! I think I have to get it in DVD as well...

I haven't seen it yet, but I am looking forward to it. Madonna did a great job on the soundtrack.

As much as I am annoyed by Madonna, I agree, she did an exceptional job with this role, esp. since she was pregnant at the time and it was hotter than heck down there. It's a very hard score to cover and I think she did it justice.

She also received a lot of grief for doing the role, there was a large faction of the Argentine country that was not happy with her in the role, basically because they want Evita declared a saint and it looks really bad to have somebody they consider a tramp playing her role.

I think she was a perfect casting, right down to her power hungry, sleep her way to the top mentality.
