Myopia?aram 03-22-2006, 10:45 AM Well....how it feels to be shortsighted? :o aram 03-22-2006, 10:55 AM Is not it embarassing...painfull.... and sometimes downright maddening? To peer in to the blurr?...see the light yet not the outline? is not it occassionally frightening feeling this "first brush of blindness" ? Science Goddess 03-22-2006, 11:39 AM Aram, I can't tell if you're being literal, or philisophical. ;) Assuming you're being literal: I started wearing glasses and contacts in my mid-20s, and for an active, outdoor-oriented person like myself, it was horrible! The best thing I ever did was have my eyes lasered for my 35th birthday. Instant sight clarity. I may be blind from the lasering when I'm old but I can see NOW. Shewolf 03-22-2006, 02:58 PM Well....how it feels to be shortsighted? :o How does it feel to rely on a guide cane to find your way? How does it feel to never see another's face clearly even when you are wearing glasses or contacts? How does it feel to navigate the world around you more by hearing and touch then by seeing? How does it feel to have to use a magnifier just to read? How does it feel to know how to do something and be unable to do it because you can't see well enough? To me it feels perfectly NORMAL :D Shewolf: Legally blind and would love to be merely shortsighted aram 03-22-2006, 07:13 PM Aram, The best thing I ever did was have my eyes lasered for my 35th birthday. Hewolf takes off his glasses and gives SHewolf a nudge...can you see the moon over there? 11 o'clock 45 degrees...good! now we can howl together !!! :D http://paintedrockgallery.homestead.com/files/graywolf.jpg Science Goddess 03-22-2006, 07:37 PM 35th B'day? Both at the same time. Clear site was INSTANT. I walked from the surgical room to the waiting room and sat down with funny little glasses on. It took me about 30 seconds to realize that I was seeing the video on the set in front of me clearly, without glasses or contacts. I went home and napped most of the day, and woke up seeing 20/10. There is a chance that I might still need reading glasses eventually but that's normal and I don't need 'em yet! aram 03-22-2006, 07:51 PM Wow! thats awsome SG! :) But 20/10? not 20/20? Science Goddess 03-23-2006, 11:36 AM Wow! thats awsome SG! :) But 20/10? not 20/20? Yup! It was cool to see the individual leaves on a tree, instead of just the tree. It was cool to see the jags of the tree tops across the mountain ridge, instead of just the ridge. Lee 03-27-2006, 04:40 PM Yes, I've always said...."seeing is believing" ...and is certainly true don't you think?? :) aram 03-28-2006, 04:58 AM Yes, I've always said...."seeing is believing" ...and is certainly true don't you think?? :) Nah, Wombats do not believe what they see.... |
