Catch Me if You Can

Catch it, if you can!!!! It is funny and there is never a dull moment! Leonardo can still pull off an apparently gifted and precocious 16 year old and Hanks is great at being unrelentless.... two brains evenly matched. Plus that is a true story, proves that "fact is stranger than fiction!" My only complaint is that I thought Christopher Walken and Martin Sheen were TOO OLD to be parents of teenagers~ Hell they should have been logically in their 40's and there is NO WAY either of them have seen that age in a long time!

I saw this movie too, and thought it was very intriguing!! I'd never heard this true story before and was in awe that Frank Abagnale posed as an airline pilot, doctor and lawyer - all before he was 20 years old!!!! It truly was a fascinating story. Speaking of Christopher Walken - he is just plain SCARY!! and Martin Sheen's teeth - UGH!!!! But yeah, Leonardo is still a cutie and you just couldnt help liking him eventhough he was pretending to be someone he wasnt!! Yeah, I enjoyed it.

for the record:christopher walken's BD is 3-31-43
that would make him 60 this March 31
which would have him between 43-44 at the time of a birth of a son who is 16
not really a bad age to father a child
or give birth to one for that matter
the one thing i didn't think was a factor on this site was age
my mother had me in her early 40's,I would have hated to think that anyone thought that she was just "TO OLD" to have a teenager when she was 60
sorry, just a BIG Christopher Walken fan(yes, even if he's not as pretty as Leo,)and someone who had an older parent;)

Naf, you are correct about no problem becoming either a father or a mother at that age, but that time frame is INCORRECT for the movie! That means Walken would had to have to been in the service during WWII during his early 40's, which is highly unlikely since 98% of our fighting men were in their late teens or twenties. I was born the same year that Leo's character was born in, and my dad was 26; thus he was 42 -45 during the time frame of the movie which would be correct. Can Walken pass for that age??? I don't think so; therefore, that is what I meant by his age not being feasible for this movie!

PS Sheesh....I think that is the point I made in the first post...where the heck did you get I was against age in general???Read closer next time....OK?

you explained what you meant by the age now,but the first line quoted reads,I thought they were TOO OLD to be parents of a teenager, and if you can't see how that may sound,oh well...
It was not an attack on you,so don't take it that way.

Saw Catch Me If You Can with the boyfriend the other day. Very good movie, although a little different than I expected. I was surprised that Leo didn't get an Oscar nomination yesterday, given both this performance and his appearance in Gangs of New York (albeit that one rather overshadowed by Daniel Day-Lewis).

Christopher Walken didn't strike me as being old, but Martin Sheen did seem a bit out of place. Perhaps I'm too used to seeing him in The West Wing.

Anyway: a very interesting movie. I need to track down the book.

Have a better one!

>>I heard today that Christopher Walken received an oscar nomination for this part yea!!! I just LOVE him.....<<

From the other nominations, it looks like he has a fair chance of winning as well... Although I admit I haven't seen the other movies. I'm just going by what I've read in reviews.

Have a better one!

I recommend you read Frank Abagnale's book of the same name and also read his testimony on his website. Frank was a very clever thief, forger, and swindler who faked his way through many things...but his desire to be around buxom young women got him in trouble as one of his old stewardess friends ratted him out to the authorites.

Frank is now a born-again Christian and an expert in the field of combatting fraud and identitiy theft. His book is an excellent read.

I absolutely loved this movie, despite the fact I don't much care for Leonardo. I loved Christopher Walken in this movie and thought he was perfect for the roll and totally enjoyed the entire story.

My Dad insisted I see it, because he as met Frank Abagnale and heard his story told from the man himself. He said the movie was absolutely excellent, so I saw it.. and enjoyed it very much.

Definitely a must see.

I also watched and loved this film. de Caprio is a very good and versatile actor imo, and I usually find most of his movies worth watching at least once. But this one I've seen 3 times now.
