SilentAngel84 03-24-2006, 02:13 PM I am working on a project for school and I am trying to pick 2 characters: one to represent this product for boys 12 and under and one for girls 12 and under. What do you think is the hottest thing out there right now for kids?
Like for example: Power rangers for boys? Bratz for girls? Who would your children or grandchildren get excited about if they saw it on the label of a product.
Thanks : )
Bella 03-24-2006, 05:33 PM Bratz, my daughter is addicted. It makes me nuts. She was a Bratz for Halloween. Her room has Bratz sheets and Bratz pillows. She's got almost every doll made. She's now angling for the sisters. I can't keep up. The darn things aren't cheap either. Lisa Frank stuff too. Also most of her friends really like Polly Pocket stuff. For the littler girls, the Disney Princess stuff is to die for.
For the little boys, my 5 year old grandson is a power ranger nut, but I've been informed by my daughter that's my fault, since Power Rangers are out of style. (who knew?) I am informed that Transformers are pretty hot right now. Also those cards, Yugio, or however you spell it. The Japanese Anime stuff is pretty important too. Video game characters.
For the really little boys, the old favorites, Superman, Spiderman, Batman. My other grandson who has a birthday this month requested a Superman costume, he says he only has a cape. He's the same one that wanted Spiderman pajamas for Christmas. The Power Ranger grandson also becomes ecstatic over Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle stuff.
Now that my daughter is gone from the room, basically, for 11 year old girls, if it glitters, is colorful, furry, shiny, and costs a lot, it's probably going to be a hit. Also if it involves make up or hair. *sigh*
You know, this isn't going to help you, but my seven year old granddaughter is relatively uncommercial, and I don't know why because she's not sheltered. Last year, it was all about soccer, all the time. This year, it's all about dolphins, all the time. Go figure....she really likes the cartoon network and Nick, but she doesn't obsess about any one thing...she likes FUN, no matter what it takes.
kindanice 03-24-2006, 07:25 PM my oldest, 11(girl) and all her friends are into nintendo ds. the hot game is nintendogs. as for a character, they are all into hello kitty. it's alllllll about hello kitty. room, clothes, and toys.
my youngest (girl) 6 is into dora the explorer. got the doll and all the bedroom stuff.....u know, bed set draperies.....yada, yada
Sdoah1972 03-24-2006, 07:33 PM My girls are 4 and 5........Bratz!!!
Charlotte 03-24-2006, 09:44 PM My boys are 5, 7, 9, and their brother is nearly 10...and they are all big fans of Spiderman comics, movies and character toys.
The big thing for my kids though is Monopoly-style board games. They love this one game in particular (that we played from 10am until 4pm today before there was a winner) called "Life on the Farm."
The objective is to begin with $10,000.00 and to retire with 60 cows and $10,000.00.
Fun game (I played too!)

brackson 03-24-2006, 11:24 PM My daughter is four and loves cat-woman.... I think it's sence of adventure... and the sleek way cats can climb on things. I work with a lot of pre-school and kindergaten kids. They all seem to go for the adventurous super-hero types. She's not into the Bratz yet. She tossed those aside for a cape at Christmas, and spent the rest of the day "flying". :)
~Guinavere~ 03-25-2006, 12:24 AM I have a 5 year old grandson and he is into anything having to do with spiderman. But he also likes to play around on a guitar, loves the wiggles, and heavy metal music (blame on his father..LOL...my son!)
arcobaleno 03-25-2006, 12:29 AM My daughter is almost 8, and she loves WINX, BRATZ, PS2.
My son is 4, and he loves TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLE, SPIDERMAN, PS2.
To both likes to play with building blocks (LEGO). :)
greeneyedgirl 03-25-2006, 12:35 AM the ex's gf's daughter = 5.....hello kitty and barbie. basically, if it's pink, she wants it. same goes for my gal Stephanie's lil 5 year old girl
my boys.......3, 5, 6 1/2......rescue heroes, spiderman, spongebob, anything military.
pow pow
Lillyfairie 03-25-2006, 10:57 PM I have a daughter turning 5 next wk and a step-daughter who is 6 and a half. The ans. as much as I hate these dolls, is BRATZ.
Belisama 03-25-2006, 11:59 PM My 8 year old would love Bratz or Hilary Duff but my 11 year old would be one eye-ball rolling, groaning mass of omigawdhowembarrassing-ness. The thing that stands out in my mind as "acceptably cute" in the minds of every single little girl I know between the ages of 4 and 12 is funky monkeys and cute turtles, like this:
