Is 21 months to early to put him in a bed???? Well Last night I got woken up at 2 am to a screaming son... Well I ran in because it was a REAL cry.. not just a fake CRY and I found him on the floor he figured out how to climb out!! Most people say how lucky I am becuse most did it when they were younger but should I get him a bed now? I want to but my mom keeps telling me he's to young...

Oh lordy Mer, yeah it's toddler bed time. That's a pretty common way to break a collar bone, falling out of the crib.

Makes your heart stop beating for a second doesn't it?

That one's going to give you grey hair. Sounds like he's all boy.

Give him a moosh for me.

Molly YOu are not kidding.... It just flew by ... I can't believe in July he's going to be 2!!!!!!

Last night he did great... he stayed in the crib all night so I'm happy....However until I find the bed... I'm going to leave the side of the crib down so if he does it won't be that bad of a fall.. I placed pillows around his entire crib....

Thanks Guys!

Mera,

My daughter was out of the crib at 16 months! She was a crazy climber!

We put a mattress on the floor and a baby gate across her bedroom door. It worked well until we got a toddler bed.

Good luck with the climing into mommy and daddy's bed thing! I dont have any kids yet, so I havent personally experienced a toddler roaming the house, but my parents have told me I used to take all my blankets and stuffed animals and make a bed next to my dads side of the bed when they first tried to get me to sleep in a toddler bed and stopped letting me climb into bed with them.

I slept with my children so I don't have the same experience as you, but by 24 months I was putting them into their own "beds".

I use the word in quotations because I didn't want to buy a toddler bed, so I put a mattress on the floor and stored the twin bunkbed frames away until they were old enough to use them.

I can't imagine a 21 month old in a crib, they're too easy to climb out of and really high up for a fall.

Yep time for a toddler bed. I must admit though that my son at 2.5yrs old is still in his crib. I plan to buy a bed this month. He is ready now though and has never tried to get out. Lucky me huh? I don't think he will have any problem transitioning now that he older. I know sounds odd to have him in a crib this long but I've always said I would keep him in there as long as I could:) Plus the financial burden.

I am currently searching for a good twin trundle bed.

Good luck Mer!

You are lucky!!

You know he hasn't tried again... I think it tramatized him or something... but now for the first time in his life he's giving me a hard time going to bed I have to let him cry for awhile before he settles down!!!!!! jeezz juust when I get used to one routine it changes!! BLAH lol

No worries. My son goes through stages of this. He normally talks to himself for 20 min before he falls asleep. But about 2 times a year he cries at bed time for a week or so and I let him and check on him after 10 min or so and calm him down and then he is fine. Sticking to a sleeping schedule has helped me and him tremendously. He knows when I say bedtime it is bedtime whether he wants to go or not. 8 o'clock(give or take 10 min) every night unless we are out somewhere on the weekend.

Good luck. I hope your little guy is okay. Trust me these little guys change daily. I love it!

I got a new bed for my son this weekend. A great Captain's bed with underdresser! Perfect. He loves it. He spent the first night in it last night with no problems! I am very proud of my little boy....oops big boy.
