This is what I have read.....and if anyone can answer some questions....please...
Childbirth involving a surrogate mother involves artificial insemination of an egg from the surrogate with sperm from the husband of an infertile woman. The fertilized egg implanted in the surrogate mother develops until childbirth. The surrogate mother is genetically related to the child.
Surrogate childbirth involving a host mother requires an egg to be removed from an infertile woman and artificially fertilized with sperm from her husband. The embryo is then implanted in the womb of a host mother, where it develops until childbirth. The host mother is not genetically related to the baby. This method can be best utilized by a woman who was born without a womb or had to have her womb removed for some reason.
Surrogate childbirth involving a host mother requires an egg to be removed from an infertile woman and artificially fertilized with sperm from her husband.
Infertile woman..........can that also be a woman whose has had a hysterectomy but has her ovaries still. Does her ovaries have any eggs to reproduce for this purpose?
Much thanks,

Hi Sora,
Yes, I would think so, as long as the ovaries are still producing. This would be evaluated by the physician of course. But, you don't need the uterus to continue to produce ova (eggs).

Thanks Whiterose!
I am very naive about many things......
Does this require me to go to a specialist? Or a regular GYN/OB?
Do these eggs eventually disappear? ....... like, if I wanted to have them frozen for later use, will they do this, cause they aren't fertile eggs......that is if they're still there?
Sorry for all the questions............
love,

I would recommend you start with a gynecologist, but then they may refer you on to a fertility specialist.
I'd have to brush up my knowledge about ovarian anatomy and physiology, but your eggs are only fertile as long as you are still making the right balances of hormones to support them. But, the GYN can probably explain it better than me. :)
I am really not up to speed on success rates about freezing eggs, because more frequently, you hear about them freezing embryos, but here's an article I found on the subject:
http://www.ivf.com/freezing.html
Please keep us posted on what you find out and how things go. :)

Childbirth involving a surrogate mother involves artificial insemination of an egg from the surrogate Not necessarily. It is usually the egg from the bio-Mom fertilized from the bio-Dad who wish to have a child together, but cannot because the mother cannot carry the pregnancy to term. The surrogate is just the "incubator" so to speak. :p
This method can be best utilized by a woman who was born without a womb or had to have her womb removed for some reason. Many, many times the older woman just cannot carry the baby to full term. They continually miscarries at 2, 3, and 4 months. So they elect to get a surrogate.
The doctor harvests her eggs and our of 6 or 7 tries to get at least 2 or 3 good embryos. The 2 women have to have their menstrual cycles set to be the same dates before they transfer the embryos to the surrogate.

Thanks All for your responses.
My first step is to see if my ovaries still produce .....
Right now, I'm fighting with my kidney!
I went in to the ER this weekend, and underwent surgery. Had a stent put in from my kidney to my bladder......to drain my infection and clear up the area around the obstruction......they think its a stone that I cannot pass.......
Had a wonderful hospital stay..lol......Saturday - Tuesday..........
with my past health issues with my kidneys they are being careful........
I will undergo surgery again on the 17th to remove the stent and also the stones....
We're hoping they don't have to do Percutaneous Nephrostolithotomy (PCN) but can remove them by Ureteroscopic.
All in all.......this has been painful.......
so, I'm hoping all goes well.......then I can meet with a specialist about my ovaries.....
maybe its just a dream.......but its a wonderful dream to have, until someone wakes me up telling me...."no no....no eggs"

Ouch! You poor thing! I hope you get back on your feet and healthy really soon.
Your dream sounds like a good one to me. Many women have been blessed this way with a baby. Have you checked out web sites on surrogacy? I can ask my daughter for some if you haven't found any.
