My Old Horsies have a new home!

Because we had to move last winter we found ourselves searching for a home for our 2 elderly horses. That turned out to be FAR more difficult than I had originally thought. I know that board can be very costly, but pasture board? In an unused overgrown pasture? Good grief. I would see like an acre or two of pasture, totally unused and would ask if I could keep the two horses there and of course I'd pay for the privilege. But these folks wanted $100 each, and nothing for shelter, fencing that needed fixing....

Anyway, I ramble on..... The thing is, I finally advertised, looking for a loving home for them, and by golly I got all kinds of calls.

They (Stilly and Athena) finally found a new home at a hunter/jumper stables where they are being used 3 days a week as lesson horses for little tykes that will eventually learn to jump. And they'll be hauled around to local shows and entered in walk/trot classes.

I'm so happy I could just cry. Stilly is 24, born and raised on the farm with us... Athena is 28, my daughters first showhorse for 4-H. It was a difficult decision but we are fortunate that a good family are giving them the caring home they need.

Just wanted to share this with you all.

My goodness. Your horsies do have some age. Wow! I am so happy that they can still have a happy life. They will have lots of activity and company it sounds like.

Thanks kindanice. Well Athena is a Morgan, and they tend to live longer. It's not unusual to see a 34 or 35 year old. And she's so spunky and looks so good that a lot of folks think she is in her teens.

Stilly on the other hand is an Appaloosa and big, fat, and lazy, but very gentle. He's the star with the little kids I hear.
:)
