Question about the pill...

The effects the pill had on me were:
VERY moody....
gained about 15 pounds.....
never felt like 'myself'.

I finally got off the pill because I realized that it just wasn't natural to be taking this pill everyday that controlled my body so much. I have my Naturalpath doctor to thank for steering me in the natural direction. :-)

Every woman has different experiences with the pill. You just gotta try it and if you want to switch brands, you can do that.

I have a question about the pill... how does it help with monthly dips in mood? Does it make the moodiness better or worse? Thanks for your info. :D

for ME, it made it better. it eased the severity of cramps, shortened the actual period time, improved my skin and hair....it was great!

i don't so much fancy those pills that only allow your body to menstruate 6 or less times a year...that's just not normal in my book. :o

Hi Pinkcat,

I'd suggest googling the term `oestrogen dominance'.

Many women are `oestrogen dominant' and will experience moodiness (even extreme depression), weight gain, and nausia if they take additional oestrodial-type hormones via the pill ......you can get blood tests done to check this, but not all doctors know the correct tests.

Some physical signs of oestrogen dominance would be:

- a tendancy to carry a bit of extra weight even if you excercise moderately and do not eat excessively
- good skin which ages well
- inexplicable fatigue and depressive moods.
- cold hands and feet

Some people claim that oestrogen dominace will also cause cancers, insomnia, foggy thinking, and decreased libido in the long term (but then again, old age causes all that too:)

If you suspect yourself of being oestrogen dominant, a progesterone-only pill would be your best bet. Also, the natural `yam' type progesterone creams can be very good to help balance out your hormone levels.

My experience with women I have known...

In general the pill made them LESS prone to moodiness because:

1. Reduced the length and unpleasant symptoms related to their periods.

2. Allowed them to have more (and more worry free) sex.

Don't know about you, but I'm guessing these things alone would make ME less moody. ;)

There are indeed different pill formulations. And there are also different strengths. So it's important to consider which one is right for you.

Your mileage may vary :)
