I was bidding on ebay over the weekend and bid on a new bike. I didnt win. However I was sent a second chance offer and was thrilled. I told the seller that I wanted to talk to them and asked details not to mention they said they would ships door to door for free. Well the more I asked questions the more suspicious I became. 15 emails later an email from the original seller I found out it was indeed a fake. They were asking me to send money to western union and they would send the bike. All the emails looked very legit and had ebay logo all over it. Long story short, I got lucky. Be ware!

This happens to me constantly. I'm glad you didn't get burned.

There's an easy way to find out if an unexpected message is legimately from eBay...
Just forward the entire message to:
spoof@ebay.com

Within a few minutes, you'll have a reply telling you whether the message is legit or not.

Thanks for the heads up, Nibbles. I have only purchased small items (books, VHS) on ebay and had no problems thus far.
