Has anyone ever gotten pregnant at 48 without using fertility drugs?

I was perimenopausal at 44, and wonder if I have to worry about being pregnant at such a late age. I turn 48 this fall.

Anyone have any experiences or information to share?

Rule of thumb: Use birth control for at least one year after your last period.

Well, we had a family friend who got pregnant at 50, I believe. She did not know she was pregnant until she was several months along because she thought she had hit menopause. What a shock that must have been huh?

I think as long as you are still having your period, there is still a chance you can get pregnant.

I wouldn't say its impossible...Of course you still can.. You did say however you are premenopausal... I would talk to your doctor..... It may take you a little longer but I don't see why not...

I have a friend who got pregnant at 46 without fertility drugs . . . in fact, she was quite upset about the pregnancy.

I know of several women that have gotten pregnant around the age of 48. One that wanted another child and had no problems conceiving and the others got little surprises. Of course they were quite distraught at the fact.

Hi Ali - yes, it is possible. I was pregnant in my 40's without fertility drugs and having unprotected sex with my vym only once! I had a miscarriage (very common at our age) and went on the pill after. My gyn said be very careful, because vym usually have the highest quality sperm - in fact, he said if you are older and having trouble getting pregnant, hook up with a man age 18-21 and your chances skyrocket!! My vym was 20 and I am proof of his virility:eek:

I never got pregnant at 48... with or without drugs.

But I know a couple where she got pregnant at about that age (I'm sure there were no drugs taken because they didn't want any more kids). She and her husband had been married for about 25 years and had kids in their 20s already. She had an abortion.
