So, were in line paying for this book stand I wanted for school. I'm dressed way down in my short blue jean skirt, T-shirt, and tennis shoes. I look younger than my 40 years. He is in kakkis and a Polo shirt and looks very nice. The cashier, a very friendly and talkative type of guy ask if he is my dad. I say no, he is my boyfriend. To which the cashier goes on and on about how grand love is and how he can now tell we are in love. Hmm?

He ask if we have been in our town long and if we were a part of the accedamic community? I replied that I was a student in the community college and that my boyfriend was a writer. I didn't go into how he is a retired English Professor.

Sooooo then the cashier ask how we met. By this time my OM and I were getting more amused than annoyed at the personal questions so I let the cashier have it. I told him how we had met online, left our homes to move to a brand new state and begin living together. I told him that we didn't care about age differences or what people thought when they look at us. The cashier was blown away and my OM and I had a great laugh walking out of the store.

Just thought I would share. We get many, many looks but few have the courage to ask. I'm glad this guy did. Of course now I'm force to call my OM dad to torture him. :D

Great story, Pita...

You handled that very well and it sounds like you had fun doing it too. ;)

Heh - reminds me when my girlfriend and I were at the airport once (she is 46 I am 28). We were holding hands, sitting pretty close. These two younger (high school / young college) kids were staring at us like we had the plague. It was hilarious! We gave them quite a show when we kissed! :D

We are about to have 3 full weeks together and I anticipate that because we will finally have time we will encounter a lot more of this kind of thing. But I posted elsewhere that when we were side by side in the rental office of the apartment we are sharing rent on, the very young female agent popped out with some doozies, e.g. (to my BF on learning he works in a gallery where they sell antiques) "So, you are into antiques. I am really young, but I like antiques too. My Mamma says I'm like an old woman." It wasn't aimed at our age gap specifically, but we both nearly busted our sides, trying not to laugh. He was so tempted to say "Yep, I'm into antiques. Even fell in love with one." He held back. :D

We have had so much fun looking back on that exchange and even ruthlessly embellishing it (he does her voice and mannerisms..toooo funny) that it was entirely worth being different ages. (He's 28..23 year age gap). Can't wait to "go home"!! Hope we get to talk to the bimbo again. :D

What about reunions? Anyone bring their significant other to their HS reunion??

I would if I had any interest in going to my HS reunions any more, but have absolutely no desire to see any of those people and nothing to prove. :)
