Sensitive Skin Products?

I know this topic comes up here and there. I did a bit of a search but I'm tired and maybe a little lazy right now (because I'm tired!), so I'm posting a new thread instead.

My new beau has sensitive skin. Even my Dr. Hauschka Rose Day Cream makes his skin red after he applies it but then his skin calms down to normal.

He uses a few things from the natural foods store but I tried them and they're not particularly moisturizing. He's 45 and spends a fair amount of time working outdoors, especially in the summertime. He would like to use something more moisturizing but he isn't sure what to try.

I did tell him that switching products/product lines will often create a short-term reaction in a lot of people and suggested that he try one type of face lotion/cream at a time, and give it a chance.

We don't live near any malls. If it's an expensive by-mail or online purchase, he's not likely to take the chance in buying it and having to go through the hassle of returning it.

So...if you use a product that can be purchased at the drugstore, health food store, or Target (there's one about 45 minutes from here), I would love to hear your recommendation. For drugstore-available products, I'll use Neutrogena but I usually use an expensive cream (mentioned above) that I usually order online since I can't find it around here.

Kat, if you read this, I think you've mentioned that you have ultra-sensitive skin so I'm wondering what you use.

Yes, this caught my eye immediately....lol.

I'm the QUEEN of sensitive skin, and I did pick up on the fact that in the previous picture you had posted of the two of you that it looked like your beau had rosacea.

There are two new products out that my dermatologist recommended to me made by everyday companies for rosacea...or for "calming." One is by Aveno (can't remember the name of it) and one is by Eucerin called "Redness Relief"....they both have a whole line.....cleanser, moisturizer, etc. I would highly recommend either one of them as a starting place that doesn't break the bank. She gave me samples of both, and I liked them both, but not as much as what I already use.

My whole regime is by Prescriptives, but it's a fortune to be honest. I think your guy would be well served by either one of the above products. There is also a product called "Dermal K" that is made of Aloe and has Vitamin K in it which helps reduce broken capillaries and redness on the face, but it's about 30 bux for a jar, which is cheaper than the $90 I pay just for the moisturizer I use from Prescriptives.

I have used Dr. Hauschka products too, and have not found them to be as calming to my rosacea as Prescriptives products. Disappointing, because I'd rather use organic natural products on my face. I do LOVE their lip moisturizer however.....it's the best!

By the way, the picture of me on here now is with zero makeup other than lipstick. You can see that my skin is sensitive, but not bad for 55. I take religious care of it....if I wear make up, which I hate to do, it looks virtually flawless. Skin care is the one thing I've done my entire life because of rosacea....if I even go a day or two not doing it, it gets out of control, and people think I have a sunburn, so I just don't let that happen anymore.

Kat, your skin looks wonderful. I'm like you...I've always taken good care of my skin and it sure has paid off. Dr. Hauschka's Rose Day Cream is $35-40 for a little tube but my skin loves it.

My guy does not have rosacea. Funny...he was sunburned! We had been on a motorcycle in the wind and sun most of the day, and walking around in the sun the rest of the day. And by the time he put sunscreen on his face, it was too late.

But, I believe that the products that you've recommended would be a good place for him to start since they won't likely irritate his face. I'll take a look at the lines in the store and maybe he can try one of those and see how it goes.

Thanks, sweets!

Ah.....okay. Gotcha.

And thanks Tootsie Roll! When they say you should show off your best feature, I consider my skin mine. :) The rest is questionable.....lol.

I've seen the products I mentioned at Walgreens and Walmart and Target, so they are readily available.

Let me know how it goes!

Posted this over in the products-we-love thread - I'm very happy with the Meaningful Beauty line promoted by Cindy Crawford.
