thesedays 10-27-2006, 11:00 AM Does anyone else work 2 jobs? If so, how are you coping? I'm so exhausted and feel like I never have time for anything but work / sleep !!
I work 8 - 5 Monday - Friday in my office, then work Thurs, Friday, Sat night in a local pub/bar from 6 - 1 and then Sunday 1 - midnight.
The only thing that keeps me going is the "end goal". The reason I even decided to work a second job is that I'm tired of paying $1200 per month in rent. I want to OWN my own house.
My first job makes enough money to cover bills, spending, a little entertainment, but only a LITTLE to save. So I had this BRIGHT (dumb) idea, I'd get a second job. You literally need around $10,000 down (around here) in order to buy a house with a managable monthly payment. .........So that's what I'm doing ....but good lord, I'm TIRED.
Above being tired, I just ..........I don't know .......having a hard time juggling my other responsibilities / demands.
Does anyone else work 2 (or more) jobs? How do you manage?
Bodhi Tree 10-27-2006, 11:14 AM No, I do not work 2 jobs, but have a job that requires about 10 hours a day including most weekends. The worst part is, I only get paid the minimum wage because I'm trying to get a company back on its feet and it's up to me to decde wether I want a higher salary and almost immediate bankrupsy or a lower salary for as long as possible.
Plus I have a child that I raise alone, so that's like a second job.
How do I manage? I don't. I am absolutely unable to pay my bills or my rent, I live on credits and debts. I often selll whatever I have of value (sentimental value or not) just to pay my debts, and whenever I get days off, I work odd jobs.
To give you an idea, my salary is 975 €/ month and my monthly rent is 1000€.
ok 'nuf !!! :(
DaBollocks 10-27-2006, 11:16 AM 2 jobs?!! When would I have to steam over to Bimini on da boat?!!! :p
Nibbles 10-27-2006, 11:40 AM Yep. I have a full time job 7am to 5pm. Then I have a side job in the summer/fall that I work from home. Then I raise my son so that is another job. Some days I go from when I get up till my head hits the pillow. But atleast I get an "I love you mom" every night and a kiss!

thesedays 10-27-2006, 11:51 AM hmmm....that's another issue I'm having in juggling my time / demands / responsibilites. I also have a 15 year old son, that I'm not getting to spend time with.
Granted, he's 15 (16 in 2 weeks) and his "things" going on, so that when I was home, he was usually at band practice (plays the guitar) talking on the phone, holed up in his "cave", etc, but still I was there if he needed me. Now, I only see him Mon, Tues, Wed night, Sat until 5 and Sunday until noon or so.
At least R is there to cook him dinner, clean, laundry, be there for him while I'm working .....but it's MY job to do these things !!
I don't know .....maybe I'll get used to it???
I don't know if I'm making this worse on myself because it's not something I HAVE to do, but chose to do in order to get things I want / need (house).
But I used to be so happy for the weekend and now I'm like "oh my god, it's already the weekend" ......
thesedays 10-27-2006, 04:04 PM yeah Trish - between full time job, part time job, cleaning, laundry, grocery shopping, son, boyfriend, dog ............oh yeah, and trying to fit a couple hours of sleep in there somewhere !!
Hopefully, I'll adjust.
Belisama 10-28-2006, 10:23 AM I have a full-time job, a part-time job and we're launching a business... talk about burning the candle at both ends!
thesedays 10-30-2006, 09:32 AM Are your second jobs out of the home, or inside the home? Even though you're still working, I think it makes a difference that at least you're still "home" for family, kids, etc.
Working 2 jobs outside of the home, you're just never there !!!
