How many people like to go to seminars? I am going to a Seminar for Coaching and Motivating a Team. I try and go to at least 3 different Seminars a year to either refresh my knowledge or learn something new to bring to my team. Some people think I'm crazy because of it but I actually find them informative and enlightening......anyone else?

I do! Gets me out of the rat race for a few days. Just went to Houston for a 3 day conference, fun! Did more shopping at that great Galleria Mall, than sit in dull lectures!!:p :o
Going next week to the Dallas area for a 4 day conference, should be more interesting hopefully. Will have to find a fancy mall......;)

The seminars I go to aren't selling anything and aren't for motivation. I mainly only go to two seminars a year, both in Austin: The Texas Municipal Clerk's Election Law Seminar and the Attorney General's Open Government Conference . . . both are attended for the sole purpose of keeping abreast of laws affecting my job.
Do I find them fun?? Not particularly. They do get me out of the office and out of town for a few days and I do network with a lot of other City Secretaries/Municipal Clerks that I don't see for most of the year.

I have always enjoyed going to seminars. And I am fortunate in that the company for which I work strongly encourages personal growth and development and will pay for my attendance.
I usually try to go to ones in which I can earn continuing education credits for my nursing license, but periodically I go to one or two a year that do not. I have been to two this year and thoroughly enjoyed both of them.
While the company that sponsored the training does sell books and CDs, they don't push it in your face.

I went to my seminar it was great... SOme seminars are boring .. I do enroll myself because I do believe in Personal development and growing myself as a person and a manager. THey did try and sell me products but Of course I didn't go for it.... But we did have a fantastic motivational speaker and I'm just impressed!!
