Non invasive liposuctionsheila4pd 11-07-2006, 12:09 PM Has anybody heard of ultrasound contouring? http://www.ishitech.co.il/0402ar2.htm experiences anybody??? spiker 11-07-2006, 01:05 PM No, haven't heard about it - but I'd like to! cgillette 11-08-2006, 03:34 PM I honestly think the procedure isn't going to be worth the cost...at least for now. I don't think it answers enough questions. For example, does the new procedure include ways of escaping the extra skin? I can't really tell with the way they present it. I have issues with it though just because of what I see as a basic American trait, and something that we, as a country, HAVE GOT TO GET OVER. I think the problem is our society wants a quick fix to any problem it encounters. Sure, liposuction or whatever this new kind of surgery is going to be called, is a means of losing fat. The problem that a person would have after the surgery is their lifestyle still needs to be fixed. Just losing excess fat does provide some health benefits, but more needs to be addressed, e.g. eating habits, exercise, etc. Otherwise, a person would have more than 1 surgery each time they gain weight. It's not cost effective and doesn't really add any kind of years on to your life. The main point that all health care professionals can agree on is that a sedentary life (without physical activity or exercise) is detrimental to health, not just having excess fat (sedentarism is a risk factor for obesity, though). The risks that are associated with no exercise/physical activity (although the terms are not interchangeable) are: Hypertension Increases risk of some cancers Reduces quality of life Increases functional limitations, especially in older people Hardening of the arteries and the list could go on. To effectively combat obesity and overfat, a complete lifestyle change is needed. Eating a balanced diet (fruits, whole grains, veggies, & smaller amounts of protein and unsaturated fats...see the daily diet and exercise tips for more info) and incorporating moderate aerobic exercise is essential to maintaining a healthy life and a healthy weight. Oh, for those who are curious, you can be defined as overweight (or obese) but still be healthy. Those rules don't apply to the majority of us though. Hope this helps! |
