Do you use a humidifier?

I live in an very dry climate (6,200+ feet asl). I'm having a terrible time with my sinuses this winter...already much worse than last winter...and the winter has only just begun! It's only bound to get worse as the snow gets deeper and we all start to hibernate inside with the wood-burning stoves and heaters cranked up, on top of the air just being "naturally" dry here.

Not to be gross...but my poor little sinuses get so dried up in the night that I wake up and find that I can't even breathe through my nose at all! I'm getting a sore throat from the combination of the dry air and breathing through my wide open pie hole.

I'm thinking of buying a humidifier. Actually, at this point, I don't think I have an option.

Just wondering if anyone else uses a humidifier, and wondering if you use it for the same reason. Also, do I actually put it in my bedroom (which is a bit on the small side), or do I leave it out in the family room? (I live in a 2 bedroom duplex so it's not a big ol' space.) I guess it seems that putting it in my bedroom that the room might get damp or something..?

EDIT: Also, I saw some that are 'cool mist' and some that are 'warm mist'. Since it's winter and below freezing here, it seems logical that I'd want warm mist...but, well, I don't know..?

If you have a minute, let me know your experiences. I can't take this anymore!

I have a cheap like $30 Vix Cooling one I bought at CVS. It has changed my life. I have very bad allergies and my throat can get so dry that my lips turn white. It can change the whole atmosphere of the room when I turn it on, I can feel relief with in an hour.

Hey, SA, haven't seen you in a WHILE. Hope all is well with you!

Thanks for the reply.

Do you leave it on at night when you're sleeping? Is it actually in your bedroom? Is it cool or warm?

Any details would be great. I've been busy and just haven't gotten around to buying one yet - my poor little sinuses. :(

Just be careful about using a humidifier if you are allergic to molds because they can increase the mold counts in your home.
