Sunless face tanner?

Has anyone here used Olay Touch of Sun for their face?

My skin is in its "winter white" mode, so I bought this stuff yesterday. I've been using it for 2 days so far... not long enough to see any results, of course. But I'm wondering what to expect...?? Anybody else have experience with a sunless tanner? This is a first-time try for me.

btw, whether it works or not, this stuff feels great! It also claims that it won't turn orange on me.

Gawd, it better not!

A friend of mine tried the Oil of Olay brand and had great results with it with no orange shade. :) I think it'll be fine.

And I tried the Hawaiian Tropic sunless tanning lotion over the summer on my legs and it worked great.

Thanks, WR. Now it's Day 3 and I'm beginning to see a difference on my face and neck... subtle but nice.

I'll have to try the Hawaiian Tropic when my legs come out of winter hibernation. :)

My favorite self-tanner for the face is Clinique.

I don't use self-tanner on my body anymore but I used to use Clarins several years ago. Expensive but really good.

SG, do you/did you use it every day?

I've been using the Olay for 6 days now, and my face is a nice light golden tan, just what I was hoping for. So I guess I should switch to applying it every 2 or 3 days now, instead of daily...? Any advice?

No, even in the summer, I don't use it every day. It shouldn't be necessary.

I probably do the 'full routine' every week in the summer time, if I find time; probably winds up being every two weeks most of the time. When I don't have time to do the full routine, I just wash my face with a gentle scrubbie instead of a peel-off mask, and apply a thin layer.

I did the full routine last night but I can't see doing it too often in the winter. I do like the little glow it's giving me but it seems that if one does it too often in the winter, it just might keep getting darker and look out of place. But then, I don't think that the women that come to the gym all tanned-up at this time of the year look good either. After doing it last night, I can see doing this every couple of weeks but really lightly and probably just one layer.

I have to say, I feel like I have this faceless tanner thing down to an art. I try to keep sunscreen on my face, so I've been self-tannering :p my face for a few years.

I actually rarely use the stuff in the winter but you prompted me to do so last night! I had my hair done a couple of days ago and my boyfriend has been out of town for work all week so I thought that I might try to look a little extra 'oomphy' tonight.

I always try to use a peel off mask first. Using a peel-off mask or at least something to exfoliate really well has always given the best results. The color comes out even and smooth, and it stays on longer. So, I wash my makeup off and use a peel-off mask.

If you're going to wash after the mask, let your fask dry completely before applying the tanner. Shouldn't have to wash after a peel off. If you miss the mask in little spots, use a damp wash towel.

I then put a little creme or oil just under my eyes, and maybe a little all the way around. I don't want that self-tanner settling in the teeny wrinkles under my eyes and making them look deeper! But I don't apply so that there's a line there either. I don't really apply to my eyelids either. That just doesn't look right, in my opinion.

I put my hair in a bun, up off my neck. I apply a thin (really thin) layer to my face and blend over my jawline and even smudge the leftovers onto my neck, front and back. I also brush my hands across my ears and don't forget when you're smudging the extra down on your neck to get that area below the hairline behind your ears. Focus on the face but just wipe the extra, like you're wiping off your hands, in these places. Keeps away the tan mask look but it won't really "tan" these areas. Let dry for a while, then reapply another super thin layer.

I almost always do this at night so I don't worry about makeup interferring or smudging the tanner. It's hard to do this at night when a guy there so I'll also do it on the weekend if I'm running errangds, hair in ponytail, only mascara and lip gloss, or at the gym if I don't think I'll be doing anything to get particularly sweaty.

See? It's an art.

I'm so A.R.

I love the Clarins one as well and I use it almost everyday. I buy the one with the sunscreen in itl so it is a tinted moisturiser, sunscreen and fake tan in one!! I know that Clarins is a little pricey in the states but this is the best one I have ever used and I have tried almost all of them!! I have not exposed my face to the sun for years and it seems to be helping. Sunless tanners are great!!
