Seven dirty words you can't say on AL!!

Recently the AL editing program has taken issue with my language. Now mind you, I may not be a foul mouthed sailor, but I had the gall to use the words ****y/****iness (c o c k y / c o c k iness)!!

Everytime this happens I sort of chuckle. Catlover suggested this might be a fun thread. What legitimate non curse words have you discovered you can't use?

Well ****, I can understand why they wouldn't let you say that!

Alfred Hitch**** is one of the few things it wouldn't let me say. The rest of the time, I'm usin' bad words legitimately! :D

The other day, I had to go back and edit myself. I said the four letter word that starts with SH and ends with T and it didn't edit it as I expected. I said, "Oh ****!"

Rozie, how times have changed. When I was a kid the word Kocky or kock sure of oneself was used, and these words were not considered foul. I was teaching a class once with high-school students, and in my enthusiasm, I exclaimed that a woman in the story we were reading had kissed her boy friend smack on his pecker. Everyone started laughing uncontrollably, and I did not know why, until some of the kids enlightened me. When a woman use to kiss a man on the pecker, it meant on the mouth, but now this region is located in a much lower area. We learn something new everyday:o

I know there is a thread out there that someone did make as a joke about the censoring fuction for swears..... WHen I have more time I'll try to find it......
it catches a lot but mostly the words we want it to catch doesn't and we have to manually do it .. Interesting..

That's too funny! I remember when "pecker" meant mouth! Hello - bird's mouths are beaks, they peck ie "pecker" as slang. Makes more sense than the current usage! LOL!

Actually, Morwena, c ocky still means the same and isn't offensive - it's just the short version in reference to male genitilia that is, but the filter here removes those four letters, regarless of there intended meaning and if there are other letters attached - so it's a goofy filter.

Fun game!
type in a word that may or may not be filtered, but use it in a non-'obscene' context. GUESS whether or not the filter will filter it.

I'll go:

Back in October I got a new *****-his name is Captain Jack and he was only 5 weeks old when I got him.

I'm gonna guess: it will be filtered

Frankly, I'll never understand why the word "***" is considered a bad word, as in rat's. It just isn't where I come from. It's not the most ladylike thing to say, but it isn't considered vulgar.

Pecker is funny as it can be.

I recall calling this one guy at a gas station a pecker head once hehehhehehehe

Hi Kristin, thank you for the info. I was aware of the current meaning and use of c ocky, but what a change to what it use to mean. You are right about the more logical use of pecker, and how the current use came about in reference to the male genitilia is beyond me. Well, I guess the same thing can be said for some of the slang words used in reference to the anatomy of a woman.:)

Ok, Catlover, so we can't say *****cat....Have to use the Tweety version..."I tink I saw a putty tat!"

Talking about words evolving, kitty has become the new word for the one we can't use. Its become slang for anatomy and young women. So Morwena, careful what you say in front of those impressionable minds!

Now I'm learning that Italian has a naughty connotation for dozens of common words. For example, "bird" in Italian means the same thing as "pecker" in English. Try talking about Sesame's Streets' Big Bird in Italy, and just see the looks you'll get.

Also, same thing for "fava bean", especially in Tuscany... A girlfriend of mine recently moved there and was at a big dinner party with all her new neighbors. She was prattling on about all the various Italian foods she likes... then she said (unknowingly) that she LOVES eating favas. All the men around the table sat up and smiled with sudden interest in her!!! :p

What if someone on here were talking about a guy named Dick; i.e., dick cheney? Would that be censored???

translation:

"I conjecture that only the English words are filtered, but the crap is crap even in Spanish"

however, i suspect that ****** is the same as ****, and both translate to a more 'colorful' term for crap
