PLEASE READ THIS!!! Tomorrow, Iran is re-trying this woman, who was convicted and sentenced to death for killing one of 3 men who was attempting to rape her and her 16 year old neice. Please realize that the people of Iran are outraged as this as well, that the clerics in power do not represent the views of all Iranians (or even most of them...). This doesn't need to be a debate...it just needs to be seen by as many people as possible. I am posting another thread to discuss some horrific laws I just learned about in the proper section. If you want to discuss this in detail, feel free...but PLEASE SIGN THIS PETITION!

I just read about this yesterday on faithfreedom.org.....there are 3 other women who have been condemned to death by stoning for "adultery".... how barbaric is this?

very barbaric to our western sensibilities, but completely in line with sharia (islamic law), which, by the way, is the law of the land in saudi arabia, one of america's closest allies. when the state and religion are one, and they most certainly are in iran and saudi arabia (i am right about this, aren't i, amina?), this kind of thing is, sadly, all too frequent. i fervently hope that the mainstream media will pick up on this and make it known around the world, but any kind of intervention from the west is definitely not welcome in iran, who just might say it's none of our business and **** off, great satan.

How very interesting we never hear anything about these atrocities to women from the NOW bunch...who espouse women's rights in this country alone it seems. How very selective....

I signed it. Hope the petition helps. I truly hate the way that people defending themselves wind up being the accused.

Thanks for starting the thread. I just signed and also read the latest news. Apparently it looks good so far. *fingers crossed*

I honestly don't even know what to say after reading up on that and watching the videos. It brought me to uncontrollable tears. What really makes it all worse is that this sort of treatment of women/children happens all too frequently in some parts of the world.

Signed the petition, hope it actually helps. I'll be watching the story.

I have been reading the updates, and not to be cynical but I can not find anything about Nazanin on the CNN, CBS, or local newspapers.

The only info I can find is on the website you gave or others like it along with a few "myspace" sites.

Have you seen this on an actual news broadcast or only online? I am just curious because they are asking for donations and I want to know for sure if this is actually real.

The first I saw of it was on CNN....then I looked it up online. I am pretty sure this is a real case. I haven't checked the updates since they overturned the initial ruling. I haven't been online as much...

If it isn't the day's hottest story, it gets no coverage..... :(
