Nutrition Bars

I thought I'd start a discussion on nutrition bars because there are so many out there.

I eat Pria 110 calorie bars as my mid day snack sometimes. They are just 110 calories, high in protein, relatively low in carb. They were recommended to me by a nutritionist and are perfectly good for diabetics.

I also sometimes have a Luna Breakfast Sunrise bar in the morning as I'm driving to the gym for my workout. They have 180 calories and not alot of carb either. I do my 30 or 40 minutes of exercise and they sustain me throughout. I usually then have strawberries and a small low fat cottage cheese after my workout. THese were recommended by my nutritionist as well.

I buy both of these bars in the health food section of my local supermarket.

I also use protein bars, but sparingly... they are just so... I dunno... not yummy lol.

I mainly use pure protein... they are 20 g protein, 6 g fat, 17 g carbs (but net 3 g, so not bad) and pretty low in sugar too (2 g sugar and another 7 more in sugar alcohols).

I am going to order some power crunch bars tomorrow (pay day). These sound like a really nice change. Instead of being dough based, they are wafer based. They taste (so I hear) a lot like one of those wafer cookies with creme between them and are much "lighter" in texture and taste. I am looking forward to trying those. They aren't carried by any local stores that I am aware of (and I've checked lol).

Im with Marcy. Most of them I have tried are very "not yummy".

Because Im home all day when I work, I would rather drink a shake. So I have a high protein/low carb shake mix I use, and I replace lunch or breakfast or a snack with that.

Lately I just have not felt hungry, and it seems like I have to force myself to eat.

Good thread. I'm especially interested in the ones with higher protein.

As far as flavor, i have had many different Zone bars and they are ALL delicious. And i'm picky about the tastes!

I never think to buy these, but now that you mention it, I bet these are great for when are overcome by a huge hunger craving or a quick inbetween meal snack. I definitely find that when I eat a snack I do much better and am far less hungry when it comes time to eat my regular meals. So, thanks for the ideas. I'm going to look for some of those you all have recommended and see what I think.

True Kat... and I think protien bars (or nutrition bars same thing really) are a healthy choice, but also because they are such dense protiens... they are really filling!

I have tried alot of them, and none really good enough to buy again--except for the Weight Watchers bars. Really good!:p But expensive...:(
