G'day everyone,

My name's Carmen and I'm all the way from Australia.

One thing I couldn't believe is how clueless all Aussies are about inter-generation relationships. It seems like there is absolutely no support groups on the web for Australians at all. It's great that this is a worldwide forum. I joined here quite recently and not really knowing what to expect checked out the forum.

I am surprised at how many people are in the same sort of age-gap relationship that I am. It's actually quite relieving knowing that I'm not strange and in the wrong for dating an older man. I just wish us Aussies would be more accepting and less prejudice. I hate to say this but to be honest it's hard for me to go out in crowds of people with my man because of the obvious age gap. I'm totally comfortable with it and so is he it's just we're not comfortable with the looks we get and the remarks from passers by who don't know us at all and what we both feel for eachother.

I have been seeing my beautiful man for over a year now and we get along so well and love eachother so much. Whether our union will last only time can tell but I love spending time with him. Our age gap is about 30 years with myself being 20 and him being 50. I know that is a huge difference but over time it has been reduced to just a number. I'm hoping that by being a part of this forum I can understand more about relationships like mine out there and chat to people who are supportive and recieve priceless advice from wise individuals. One day I hope this older man/younger woman union will be accepted in society for what it truly is; couples who share real love.

With love and peace to all xxoo

Carmen

Hi Carmen,

Welcome to the forums. I don't post a lot to the OM/YW forums because I'm in the other one :) I'm going to be 47 this year and my YM has just turned 20.

I was in an age gap relationship when I was 23 with a man who was 52, so I can sort of identify with what you're going through. But strangely enough, when someone approached me whose age I couldn't guess and turned out to be 27 years younger than me, I freaked out. That's why I'm at this site.

Age was just a number for me when I was in the OM/YW category, and I'm pretty much at the point now where it's just a number now, too... now that the situation is reversed.

I still feel like it's easier for the OM/YW though. At least it seems to me (maybe just here in America?) that the OM/YW relationships have had more representation and acceptance over the years. I don't know though... just seems that way.

Good luck to you!
