How about Black Cohosh? my doctor has recommended that for menopause. (not to hijack the thread...but the depression and organization - lack of - absolutely DOES go together)

I also have the double whammy of depression and menopause. I tried to do it without meds, and St. Johnswort was working pretty good for me. But then i had a couple serious things happen in my life, and i just couldnt do it without something stronger. I will say that the two pills he has put me on have worked a MIRACLE, along with 20 minutes of being outdoors each day, and a 30 minute walk almost every day (which i did before anyway). My sleep is still messed up, and i really dont want to resort to sleeping pills, thats why he suggested the Black Cohosh (along with having hot flashes).

Thanks Jelly, I totally forgot about black cohosh. Most of the menopausal women in the dr I work for's practice (ooh, nice english! :) ) use both the black cohosh and the chaste tree berry. It seems what one doesn't deal with the other does.

For lack of sleep I suggest the 5-HTP. If it's a bit more insidious than that, you can get melaton 3 or melaton 5, which has melatonin...great for just quietly easing into sleep. As for St John's Wort, yes, it does amazing things, but if you are outside, please remember to use sunscreen. It does make your skin more photo sensitive, and prone to sunburn.

Another thing I'd like to ad is that, taking care of yourself while depressed can help break the cycle. The better you feel physically, the better chance of depression lightening. For organization I can't recommend zinc and grape seed extract enough. I wouldn't be able to do my job without either of them.

Well, i'm up now, due to NOT being able to fall asleep, mostly because of ITCHING.

Not sure if this is a side-effect of my meds, or of Menopause, but its just awful tonite. I dont have a rash, but the itch - especially on my hands and feet - is CONSUMING me!!

I really itch everywhere - those spots are just the worst right now.

I'm going to order some natural menopause help. My doc wont prescribe hormone therapy due to the breast cancer in my family.
