Gosh... another new look for ole Ageless and over 23,000 members??? YIKES! But just a quick note to say HI to any old members out there (and I do not necessarily mean age-wise!:bgrin2: ) who may remember me!

I have been in Belgrade for almost 3 months now and am loving every minute of it. I have been homesick only once, which is really unbelievable. Christmas here was beautiful (Jan 7th) as were the decorations, and I celebrated the New Year (Jan 13th) at an outside concert in front of the Parliament along with 50,000+ people.

A teaching position at a private school literally "dropped in my lap" the last week of Jan in the IB program, and I am enjoying that as it is only one day a week! The kids are the same there though as in the states as they want something for nothing! I still volunteer at the American Corner and hold conversation hours and had to co-host a lecture about a book that dealt with American essays that was televised.

The weather has been exceptionally warm, and it snowed only for one day; so for this FLA woman, it was a bit disappointing. Spring had come early, and it was beautiful as the buds on the trees and the flowers began to bloom and be planted. The outdoor cafes have just about all been set up, and it is so nice to have coffee outside already and to "people watch". Flowers are sold everywhere already, and the traveling gypsy musicians add to the flavor of the city.

Now onto the "juicy part"! :tongue2: Nikola and I are still very much in love, and he has not been ashamed at all to show how much he is in love with me when we are out in public. I did almost faint when he kissed me in front of people the first time, but now I have just come to accept the fact that this man is remarkable in this way, too. I do, however, still have to pinch myself every now and then as I find it hard to believe that one of Belgrade's most eligible bachelors wants me out of all the beautiful women here (and trust me; Serbian woman ARE gorgeous!). He is taking me on a romantic train ride to Montenegro in two weeks as I need to go out of the country every 90 days, and he thought that would be nicer than just taking me via car. He is amazing to say the least, and we get along so well, it really does feel like we had known each other in a former life! I have never felt this loved...ever!!!

Take care everyone! Caio!

Linda

Thank you all for the warm wishes and continued support. Even though I would love to address you all individually, it is impossible as I can only come to the site when I am at my friend's house as I do not feel comfortable at those net cafes, and the Am Corner blocks anything with LOVE in the title I think. I guess I could do it an Nikola's, but this place is MY secret! :p

Rina and Karen, I will be returning in July and go back to work here due to my financial status, and the fact that I need to REALLY concentrate on getting all in order so I can retire in four years. With what I have heard on the news, we may be close to a recession?? I hope not, but I need to make sure I do not lose my job if one is to come. The school wants me to stay and even offered to send me to Athens in July for IB training, but the pay is not good, and most teachers have to work at 2-3 different schools as the system is more like our colleges, where the teacher just goes and teaches a class or classes and leaves. There is no planning period; no cohesiveness of all the teachers working together. It is hard to get use to, that is for sure! Nikola says he wants to come here and visit, but now VISA'a will be even harder to get after July 27th (said the embassy here). He is working on his master's in electro energetics (whatever the heck that is as I still do not completely understand even though he has explained it twice to me and showed me his notebooks with formulas and stuff), so that may help. Plus with his background... well, who knows?? The fairy tale just may continue! :bgrin2:

As far as my health concerns that I had before I left, all is well except for the carpel tunnel, but it is much better now due to not grading, chatting online and driving! I had a myriad of tests run and got the last results the afternoon before I left, and it seems that the meds I was taking for minor things had made it look like I had a MAJOR problem! SOOOOO.... I am back exercising (well walking basically as that is how one travels here...and I have already worn out a pair of shoes!) and seem to be again in good health. So WHEW~

Congrats to Karen and Kristin! I am sure it is a very exciting time for both of you! I have not had time to read any threads (just titles really), so I do now know what is going on with everyone, but I hope good things!!!

My best to all... and Hugs from BG!~

Linda

I'm thrilled to hear everything is going better than you planned and the best news of all is that you're feeling medically better!

Enjoy your time together and know that you are thought of often here! :)
