wondering about rules ....

it states in the rules no talk of people under the age of 18 ... i live in canada and the age of consent may shock some of you .... so before i explain my situation i would like to know if there is actual support for a yw/om relationship i am in ....i am including a link with the law ...

Regardless of the age of consent where you live, your partner must be 18 in order to discuss a romantic relationship on this site.

It’s a complicated topic that crosses over moral, legal and cultural lines, however, I have to agree with the moderators for making the age cut-off for this particular site 18.

Even so the thread made me curious I did a little research this evening.

The Canadian government has been looking at changing/altering age of consent laws. There has been a particular focus on children/adult relationships and the risk of exploitation of youths etc. Here is a more recent link from the Department of Justice http://www.justice.gc.ca/en/dept/clp/faq.html

I found some of the stats to be really funny. Like it being against the law for 2 males to have sex but it is okay for two females. :p

Certainly is standard for the male to be older,and okay for the female to be much younger,to have sex. What a bias, huh... :cool:

Where it is illegal for same sex or underage same sex people to have sex, what do you do? Turn in the 2 little girls who are 6 and playing doctor?

I was quite surprised to read some of the information about the age of consent in Canada. While I always think of Canada as quite liberal, I also think of it as a bit prudish in terms of sex. I don't know why. So this certainly turned my head.

I notice if one person of the party is in a "postition of authority or trust" (presumably the older person) then the age of consent jumps to 18.

Marcy's right. We don't allow discussions about relationships with anyone under 18 years of age. State and federal laws don't apply here. It is a forum rule.

I'm going to go ahead and close this thread.
