WOW!!!!!!!!! absolutely stunning...

I immediately thought of Victorine Meurent who is woman in what has always been probably my single favorite painting. Manet's 1873 painting 'Gare St. Lazare'. Didn't see her though.. but I thought in did from other paintings he did of her. She was Manet's favorite model

THANK YOU, Blue, for posting this link....It was beautiful!!! LADave will have to drop by to see it...he's a art enthusiast as well!

I'm sending the link to Jake...ya, he's a pierced, tatooed biker...with a huge heart and an insatiable interest in art history (pretty good blend of bad boy and artist;) ).

Mandrake...Oh My Gosh!!! I have that Manet print framed and hanging in my house!!! I bought it at the Musee de Orsay's gift shop in Paris in 2003, and it has ALWAYS captivated me. I LOVE the impressionists most: Monet, Manet, Degas, Renoir, Van Gogh...Thanks for sharing her with us!

Same here... got mine at the National Gallery here in DC. It just ...'hit' me first time I saw it there and had to have a print as well. Rubens has always been my first love as far as the great painters... but Manet is not far behind. :bgrin2:

I am completely mesmerized by this video. So beautiful.

Please, could somebody.. anybody tell me the name of the painting at the 1:12/1:13 mark? It's the woman with the 3 teardrop pearl earrings and the pearl and jeweled tiarra/head piece. I can't get over how realistic that picture it is.

This is the one you mean, right? I've never seen it before, but maybe somebody else knows...?

I'm by no means an expert.. but have a goodly number of books laying about. If I come across that one. I'll let you know.. I'll should email my old Art Professor..I'm sure he'd know hahhaha. These kind of things often become obsessions.

Just wanted to bring this thread up again to say I found a page with a list of all the paintings and the artists. :)

http://www.maysstuff.com/womenid.htm

The painting I was inquiring about is titled Amalie von Schintling painted by Joseph Karl Stieler.
