Funny But Cool Things About Living Alone

Okay, not really looking for things like "I can sleep as late as I want on Saturday morning".

You who live alone (like me)...let's see some of the slightly quirky and coveted reasons that you enjoy living alone!


1. Running around the house and burping without worrying about offending anyone or grossing anyone out.

2. As the dishes continue to reside in the kitchen sink, I can drain and refill the sink as many times as I want (read: for as many days as I want) because it's okay to leave dishes soaking as long as the water is warm, right? Doesn't this mean that the washing is in-progress?

I live with my 21 yr old son but these apply to being single ;)



I can have an Eskimo Pie Ice cream for dinner.

My pj's don't have to match or be sexy. ;)

I get the whole bed to stretch out on in the summer AND all the covers in winter.

No snoring problems :p

The whole bathroom is all mine, anytime, and I don't have to close the door. :tongue2:

I can leave stuff in the dryer as long as I want... like a week, if I feel like it. Yay!

I can fart in bed all winter without having someone shake the covers, letting the cold air in.

I can have all the magazines and books on the coffee table in perfectly square piles, at perfect right angles to the edges of the table, and no one knocks them askew.

When it gets down to real, bona-fide sleeping, there's nothing more restful than having the whole bed.

If I have trouble falling asleep or staying asleep, I can get up in the middle of the night and do whatever without waking someone else up.

ARTIFICIAL FLOWERS!!!!!

Flowered sheets, bedspreads, furniture.

Being able to walk into a store, see what I like and buy it knowing that I'm taking it home and NOT taking it home for approval or rejection by an S.O.

Not having to ask someone else's opinion. I can have my car fixed where I want, put in whatever flooring I want, put up whatever curtains I want, use the air conditioning repair guy I like, etc. etc. etc.

Traveling without a cranky person complaining all the time.

Ooooo, oooooo, being able to TURN AROUND AND GO BACK if I see something that I want to look at!!!!!!!!!

Not having to stand in the men's department while he shops.

Spending 30 minutes in a hardware store instead of 3 hours.

I don't shower if I don't want to.

I cook big meals only when I dang well feel like it, which isn't very often.
(Actually, I stopped doing that at 20 years of marriage. I figured if other people could retire after 20 years, so could I. Who knew that "I'm retired" to me meant "You're fired" to my ex!!! "? :p )

Although I still have to give my Mom something "meal like" to eat, I can stand at the fridge and eat a little of this and a little of that whenever I feel like it!

No sharing the remote!!!! No having to sit there, developing nervous tics while he surfs with the remote, but being able to surf as much as I please!

Watching T.V. in bed, setting the timer, and falling asleep.

There's room for my dog in bed.

Whole closets to myself - and as previously mentioned ALL the bathroom space!!!

I gave away my iron and ironing board.

I buy only washable clothes; no more trips to the dry cleaner and closets full of dry-cleaning chemicals.

I don't have to wear high heels!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!

If my gray roots show, screw 'em.

NOT HAVING TO HEAR "I TOLD YOU SO."

Well Chatterbox, you made me smile anyway...

Most of the reasons I would give have been mentioned already.... here are a few more (I guess these aren't funny either):

No need to shave

If I'm not sleepy, I can get up and surf the net or watch Conan O'Brian.

I can cook whatever I think is healthy and good for supper

I can stretch a dollar better by serving smaller portions of meals/ save money by not having to cook as much (feeding "him" was like feeding 3 people)

I only have to carry half a Glad bag full of garbage out to the curb every week

If my kids aren't here, I can walk around naked if I wanna

I can remove the "computer tech center" from the bedroom and make it a bedroom again - a refuge, a place to feel comfortable and relaxed in.

I don't have to have wires and gadgets all over the place

I don't have to hide the mailbox key anymore because I don't have to be afraid he'll take the mail and hide the bills

I get to keep the windows closed in the winter and turn the heat up to 78 F if I feel like it

I can cry all I want and nobody sees my red swollen nose.

Oops, I guess that's neither funny nor cool. :o

Um, ok, I can play any music I want, even if it's the same CD over and over and over and... :jiggy:

Eating ben and jerrys WITHOUT a spoon

slurping my soup
making that slurping noise with a straw while drinking a milkshake

lying on the sofa with my legs open..OKAY i know GROSS but hey Im airing it out for peeps sake!

Spinning in my computer chair to get dizzy without someone saying WTF are doing..

WAITING to put away the dry foods or canned goods and leaving them still in the sacks!

I can't think of anything I DON'T like about living alone, except when I'm sick I wish there was someone to go get me a glass of water.

Everything else: the best.

Popcorn for dinner.

Sleeping without worries.

Making messes.

Beholden to no one's schedule but my own.

Watching whatever movie I want, when I want.

Reading all night.

I'm with Kat. The only thing I really hated was being sick alone. Then I would always feel sorry for myself, and it really sucked having to drag yourself to the store to get medicine when all you really wanted to do was curl up in bed and die.

The rest was all great! Specially watching whatever movies you wanted to without having to consider someone else's tastes!

I have to agree with this!!! I don't live alone but this is what I would LOVE!

I don't like living alone... I like to be around people I really do.. I like to have moments which I get when my hubby is out with Dennis and thats all I need

ya I also hated when I was sad and I had to hold myself..its not the same effect of someone holding you..Just does not work

I was just thinking about this today!

*I can leave dishes in the sink until I feel like cleaning them.

*I don't have to clean my apt. until I feel like it w/o someone raggin me about cleaning up. (It stays neat anyways, I'm talking about stuff like mopping the floors, etc...)

*I come and go as I please w/o checking in with the P.O. lol

*Everything stays where I last left it w/o someone moving it and me being frustrated as to where to find it!!!!!!!

*Everything in my apt. is to my taste.

*I can stay on this computer all I want w/o someone saying "why are you on the computer all of the time?" and them watching the screen.

* I can leave my clothes laying on the couch until I feel like moving them when I get home from work.

*Being able to sleep in w/o waking up to noise thats going on in the house b/c of another person.

*If I don't feel like making the bed, OH WELL!!!!! lol

*I can scent my apt. to my liking ( like candles, etc..)

*I don't have to worry about finding "stuff" that shouldn't be in the house

* I can leave every light in the house on
