A friend of mine has a broken leg and it's not healing well at all. In fact, they are wanting to put in some screws to help hold the break together to facilitate healing. He really can't afford this and has no insurance. I'm concerned about him and would appreciate it if those of you who pray will keep in him in mind when you say your prayers.

Prayers for a speedy recovery.

Does he live in the US? If so, tell him to apply for the hospitals charity fund. If they don't have one then have him go through a hospital that does. That's what I had to do. That will cover everything and they'll assign him a liasion he can speak with to ensure follow-up procedures/appointments fall under the charity's coverage so he doesn't get slammed with a huge unexpected bill.

He must be denied by Medical Assistance first to qualify though. If he takes medicine to sustain a lifelong illness he can qualify for medical insurance through the local welfare office if his income is low enough. Not sure if he doesn't have a lifelong illness what the guidelines are.

I do know that most states (if not all) offer medical insuarance and it's free (sliding scaled not sure?) if you meet their income guidelines. But there is generally a pretty long waiting list (1-2 years). But at least he could sign up for any future issues.
