Our healthcare in the USA is terrible!

Here is one example of why I am so upset with our healthcare system.
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/19251478?GT1=10056

another example is a woman takes her very sick child to the ER with a 104.6 temp. The hospital calls her insurance and because it is HMO they can't take this child; sending her to the *proper* hospital. On the way to the hospital the baby has a seizure and dies all because of the health insurance. What has our country come to.

I remember when i had Pneumonia and I was so sick. We had to call ahead to go to the ER. My hmo told my husband if she is talking she is okay. That night I was taken in by an ambulance and was there for 5 weeks. We had to fight our HMO to help pay this bill.

I find it so sad to live in a country that is suppose to be so wonderful yet treats her people like this.

Amen to that.
If you really want a "treat", try dealing with the healthcare system as a workman's comp. case :(
In many ways our country has become, not only embarassing, but downright mean spirited as far as taking care of it's own.
Very sad.

I just read a story also about the volunteers who helped with the clean up of 9-11. Because they were not a documented worker..such as a fireman or policeman they do not get any help with health issues that occured after this happened. Many have breathing problems now. BUT we can give full medical coverage to Guantanamo Bay detainees and we can't people here in the states..just makes me so embarressed to be American sometimes.

I couldn't agree more.. I heard the story just before I left for Italy Vomiting blood or something like that.. and they wouldn't admit her. Didn't get the full story.. but I'm sure it was unexcuseable and another example of the failure of our system. I did hear the 911 audio... wow....what is really sad is the lack of surprise over something like that.

yet another reason to stay here in Italy and never come back hahahha...
