JennyJen 06-20-2007, 06:06 PM Well they found 2 new tumors in my dad today, my mom is handling things a lot better and my dad is in great spirits...he said he wants his names changed from Thomas to tumors, and then he told me Jenny every time these SOB doctors come in I have 2 new tumors. This means the cancer is all over his body and he really doesn't have long now. He is so drugged up he's funny as hell but it is also really sad, just wanted to share this with all of you that have been keeping up with me and my family...thank you sooooo much!

Funny sad story for you..My brother who was very sick (found out 2 weeks before he died) had heart cancer...i know I never heard of it before either. Well When he was lil and he never washed his privates I told him that his thing was going to fall off and he would be a girl..He would get ROTOPENIS...I told him this is what happen to mom and she use to be a boy now she is a girl because she never washed her privates.
Well this joke was ALWAYS around even as he got older. Well a young nurse came in with a male nurse to give him a sponge bath. SO trying to lighten the mood; I told everyone there..um you might want to wash his privates really good..cause I dont think he wants to get rotopenis..my family was in shock..it was SO quiet..untill my brother Broke out laughing so hard..he looked at the female nurse and pointed down south and said okay girl WASH AWAY...

Whatever happens, you can look back on that as a good memory during a sad time. I had a friend that was really funny like that. She got a rare form of cancer and was able to keep up her spirits like your dad is, too, even during her last days while she lay ina bed in the hospital.
Did your dad ever use the internet? My friend used to blog on a site that was specifically made for cancer patients. I don't know if it was through her hospital here in San Francisco or if it was a global thing. I'll see if I can find the URL.
Oh I can't find the specific web site anymore (it's been a few years since she passed away now). Here's an article about patients blogging though:

I remember when my grams got really sick and she had about 1 month left. She calls us girls to her bed and says OKAY before i leave this earth I have many things to talk about. Now I know you already know about sex but remember this even if there is SNOW on the mountain .keep the fire in the furnace. Ever wonder why grampas still smiling? My gramps would smile really big and then say Yep it sure is not just your grammas cooking..ROFL..YA it was kind of an EW moment..BUT It is one of the best memories of her I have..she was such a Go getter lady and full of spit and vinager!
JennyJen 06-20-2007, 08:09 PM My dads mood changes everyday sometimes he'll be joking other times he'll just want to die. When I'm with him we just sit and talk for hours, I'm very close to my parents, he already gave me bunch of stuff including his rosary beads which I have tattooed as a memory of him. I have pictures that I love of him with my little pit bulls that I plan on getting blown up and to hang them. It's kinda scary though because my mom and me are already cleaning up the bedroom and stuff his closet it still there and will be until he dies but we are just preparing for it. Thanks again for everything, every time I read these threads about my dad and see new people and the same people keeping up and telling me I'm not alone and sharing their stories with me, it puts a smile on my face, not that we all think this is great or something but just knowing that I am not alone and that I am thought of means a lot!
Gypsyheart 06-20-2007, 09:00 PM I'm at a loss for the right words, but wanted to say you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. I lost my only two siblings years ago in a fatal car accident and it was very difficult to deal with. It happened so quick, there was no sense of closure for me and healing was hard. As difficult as this will be, I would relish every moment you have with him. Knowing you're there for him is priceless to you both and will help you heal later. ((hugs))

My Dad beat esophagal cancer last year, but recent tests show that is has come back. He had a CAT scan this week to see if it has spread, which I haven't heard the results of yet. :(

My father was sick for soooo long...my mother nursed him at home for over 2 years. Very often he had just wished he would die. It's such a horrible thing to go thru, but also a huge part of life. I came out of the whole thing realizing that i'd just went thru something that almost EVERY person goes thru. Losing a parent. You really realize the circle of life.
