Hacked

Dear Everyone:

I'm writing because when I logged on to AOL this evening, my account was blocked. According to a message I got, I had violated AOL's e-mail protocols. What had happened to me is that from time to time over the past couple of weeks, my logs of sent e-mail showed me as having sent spam to addresses I don't recognize. The messages were advertising and some were sex-oriented. They went out in groups of 6 or so.

Somehow or other, someone hijacked my e-mail address, and I'm trying to figure out the source. I think it might have been from signing on to receive e-mail from the MSN AgelessLove Unofficial Member Photo Album discussions--I can't think of where else it could be from.

Has anyone else had this problem?

If anyone's received anything offensive from my address, my apologies. It wasn't my intention!

Any insight would be much appreciated!

The chances that the MSN Agelesslove photo album has any connection to it is quite slim tho.
Your own computer was probably hacked by a worm or a trojan that harvested your email passwords. You'll need to scan your system with anti-virus software if you haven't already and you'll need to change ALL your passwords just in case.

Damn I hate crackers. :(
Good luck.

It happened to me one time with the insta kiss scam. I thought my boyfriend had sent me an instakiss so I wanted to check it out. I had to sign up and use a password to get in. That's when they got my password and sent out a porn site in my screen name. I was so embarrassed! I changed my password right away. I wrote everone who recieved mail from my screen name and apologized to them explaining the situation. Then I wrote to the internet company I'm signed on with and explained to them the problem.

This is what I'm doing now. I have one password to sign on and another password for sites that require a password to get into them. I haven't had a problem since. As for getting scammed from here no not that I know of. Good Luck Terry

Now that you mention it Terry, I remember getting an insta kiss. I remember thinking it looked OK. As a matter of fact, isn't it made to look like an AOL service? I seem to remember it did, opening it up and well the rest might just be history.

AOL required me to provide a new password. Hope that and a little more caution cures the problem!

Thanks everyone!

With AOL it happens all the time..I just got blocked last week because someone searching through profiles didn't like a word on my daughters...it was lyrics to a song. Just call them up and say hey turn it back on.

LA,
AOL has a free number they give out to those who have had their password stolen and their computer identity taken which is what happened to you. You call their number and ask them to give you the FBI's net fraud dept. Call and report the problem. They will tell you to have a computer repair service remove the virus and send it to them so they can trace and find out who generated the virus. BTW, Norton's is the best virus detector.

Yes LaDave,
Ive had that exact thing happen to me but just once. I had to change my password, I never did find out who did it. ....I was not a member of ageless when it happened, but it was really a mess. I know how you feel.
