My dad

Hi Gang,

As many of yall knew my father had become very ill,over the last few weeks.The other day at about 7:30am,he made journey home to be with my mother.

Dad was 73.He and mom raised 5 of us,two girls and 3 boys.They were very proud of all us.Tomorrow,at my olderst sister's we're going to have a celebration of his life,as thats what he wanted.

I'm so sorry for your loss. My dad is ill too and I keep expecting to get the call, I just don't know when. I wish there were something to say to make it all better, but there isn't. It's just life.

I lost my step-dad recently and we too had a celebration of his life! What an awesome way to remember a loved one!

I feel for you - I just lost my dad in September. He was 64. We were glad to have him as long as we did, so it was bittersweet. I just wish he had seen his last granddaughter and been able to be at my wedding.

We didn't have a funeral for him - we had an Irish wake. It was a really nice party. A celebration of life.

I'm glad you are doing the same for your dad.

So sorry, Michael. :( There was a show on Gray's Anatomy where one of the character's Dad died and another character said, "Now you're a member of the Dead Dads Club. It's a club that nobody wants to be a member of and life is never the same."

I hope you don't mind my quoting a television show with fictional characters, but whoever wrote it had to have lost their Dad to know what it feels like.

Also, since you've lost both your Mom and your Dad, you might want to check out Amazon or your local library for a book called "The Orphaned Adult: Understanding and Coping with the Grief After the Death of Our Parents" by Alexander Levy.
