Cranky Corner

The television ad that uses the song "Sunshine" by Jonathan Edwards edits the words from:

Sunshine go away today, I don't feel much like dancing,
Some man's come he's trying to run my life, don't know what he's asking. When he tells me I better get in line, can't hear what he's saying
When I grow up, I'm gonna make him mine, these ain't dues I been paying

and

Sunshine come on back another day, I promise you I'll be singin'
This old world she's gonna turn around, brand new bells'll be ringin'

to

Sunshine go away today, I don't feel much like dancing,
When he tells me I better get in line, can't hear what he's saying
Come on back another day, I promise you I'll be singing

Doens't rhyme!!!!!! :fighting0087: Drives me crazy. :witsend:

I have to deal with cranky people everyday. I used to be able to handle it, but lately....I want to kick someone!

I teach several exercise classes per week (been doing it for 30 years)it still amazes me at how people feel they can blatantly talk/critique my class as if I am invisible. The majority are woman and that just makes it even worse! Just yesterday a 75 yr old woman who had taken my aquatics class once was in the locker room before my class bad mouthing me to the other woman.
Then on top of that she went to my boss and bad mouthed to him. The other 20 regulars from my class were very irritated, but she held the floor & went on & on. (My boss & a few of the ladies told me right before class)

Okay so i really wanted to drown her. This woman hardly moves. She doesn't act like she evens wants to exercise & she had a miserable puss on her face the entire hour. THEN....she approaches me after class & says "class was great, not like the last one" and walked away!

Talk about cranky!!!

I had not idea that it could be so much fun! I think the only way to know for sure is to send someone a private message asking, "Do you have me on 'ignore user'?" - which, if they do, they won't get, so they won't answer, and then you'll know ...... UNLESS they're out of town or something!! :p

I feel more down than cranky. Actually I feel like this...
http://www.todohistorietas.com.ar/mafaldamundo.gif

It is like the world is sick.

Horrible earthquake in Peru. (Do we have a member from Peru here or is it Ecuador?). Hurricane in Jamaica. Tsunami alert in Panama, Colombia and Costa Rica. Poor miners trapped/dead in the US. The situation in the Middle East. Realizing how the Kyoto agreement is turning into a scam. Conflicts in Panama, 4 people dead in protest (that is a lot of dead people in my little country). My tummy hurts and my house plants are dying.

I am sick that there are 181 miners trapped by a flood in a mine in China. And to further read that every year, THOUSANDS of miners die on the job in China.

Otherwise, when I am a little cranky, I feel a lot better after reading some of the posts in the best of craigslist. It helps me realize that I have not be singled out by stupid and rude people, that there are others like me that have reasons to vent their rants.

Cranky alert!

Okay, I thought the guy was cool when he wrote the book, "He's just not that into you" but he had a 19 year old male and a 38 year old female that are in a relationship ... perhaps married? not sure .... and his attitute STUNK!

Here's all I could stand to see: the guy seems nice enough but is totally unmotivated; the woman is very motivated and is going to use her drive to get him into college, make sure he gets good grades, etc. Okay, now the host kept saying: "But he's 19!"

My thoughts before I turned off the show:

A) As IF 19 year olds DON'T go to college????? Duh.

B) This man would find a woman to tell him what to do at any age. I guarantee if he hasn't found her by the time he's 40, he'll still be looking for her.

C) Same thing for the woman, I'd venture a guess that she was as ambitious and intent on getting her boyfriend/man to be successful at 19 as she is at 38.

As has been said in other threads: not all issues are age-related just because it's an agegap relationship.

Ok peeps, the cranky corner is open for business. Jen and Angel, bring the drinks over, will ya?

I called a friend today to wish him a happy birthday and to offer to buy him lunch or coffee. This call was made at 10:30 a.m. He sent me an email at 2:30 and said he wouldn't have lunch with me unless I let him change the oil on my car (i asked him to do this a week ago). It wasn't convenient for me AT ALL at the time (I was downtown in meetings for work) and he said to just forget the whole thing! WTF??? I'm cranky because I was supposed to have a "date" tonight. It wasn't a big deal but I was going to get together with someone.

He canceled and actually I didn't care at all. In fact, I was glad he did. But I'm still annoyed. I emailed him yesterday and asked him if we were still on for tonight.....he said absolutely. Then he canceled.

He didn't explain why he canceled. I'm finished with that situation.

Oh, it doesn't matter and it's not relevant but he's 33. An age gap thing....but I've had same age men pull the same crap.....so age really has nothing to do with it.

LOL! I was pi$$ed off at first but I really was glad that he canceled. A few months ago when we first met my feelings were different. I was open to something between us. Now I'm not sure and I told him that. Maybe he canceled because he got a better offer....a sure thing.

I'm only annoyed because I was honest with him and he said it was fine. He said no matter what he just wanted to spend time with me.

I just don't want someone to insult my intelligence.

Actually, I had a much better time tonight with a man who's intelligent, sweet, kind, adorable, handsome, sexy, and a fabulous friend.....I adore him....

I lived in Cheyenne for three years and totally loved the weather, cold, sunny and dry! There was a problem in winter with jogging though, I got cold induced urticaria at -17 below. Was just through there last month and was wonderful weather, dry, sunny, high 70s. The altitude really got to me this time, not used to that in the flatlands of Texas. It was 88 here today, so 43 sounds really good!!

Zolie, I took some pictures at the service. I know you were quite distraught and probably didn't take any yourself, so you can save this one:

I hope it isn't too soon for zolliepup to appreciate humor! :p

(OF COURSE not awful enough for me to stop eating it!!!!) ... and it suddenly hit me: the pecans are salted!!!!!!! Ewwwwwwww, who the heck wants salted pecans in their butter pecan ice cream??? Worse, I don't think they're actually salted ... more like they were soaked in saltwater. I just want to say that I appreciate all the cards, flowers, and well-wishes sent regarding the loss of Pepperoni Pizza. This past weekend we had a wake and celebrated by creating and eating his brother Sausage AND Pepperoni Pizza. The wake went off without incident! I shoulda taken a picture;)

I have been in such a mood for pizza after the "lost pizza" episode! So, tonight, I bought a freshly made pizza from the grocery store deli, and brought it home to bake myself. I put the pizza on foil and baked it. I removed it, and the friggin' thing was STUCK to the foil!!! I guess I was supposed to put olive oil on the foil. I am friggin' CRANKY! Should I be cranky about this? I know that charges vary by area, but I just got charged $180.00 for 1 1/2 hours of work by a plumber ... is that right?

I hired him to install a new faucet for $90.00 and when he had to move the garbage disposal to get to it, he charged me an additional $80.00, which seems high to me.

I'm asking because he's supposed to come back to replace the insides of a toilet and I don't know if I should call him up to tell him to forget it or if this is normal.

Thanks in advance for the input, gang!

Now that I think of it, I had an electrician charge me $180.00 dollars for about an hour and when the air conditioning man comes and flicks a switch or tell me nothings wrong, it costs $85.00. Dang, these men (and women, I assume) sure make a good living.

Okay, so it's the going rate, but I've decided I will still be cranky about it.

Chatter, that sounds about right for over here on the west coast of fla as well. I only hire independent people now who don't charge me an arm and a leg anymore. They're out there.

Once I even had the guy who worked for the company come back and work for me on the weekend and paid half the price.

They're outrageous.

I agree wholeheartedly, the three workmen who's charges I quoted were all independent business owners. I always try to hire people with their own business because, if I'm going to pay an arm and a leg and an elbow, I at least want the money to go to the person doing the work!

I started a 10-day fast on Saturday. I'm seriously cranky...although not anywhere near as cranky as I was yesterday. I think I'll feel more normal tomorrow.

Post-fast fact that makes me cranky just thinking about it: I can't go eat a fat steak or sushi at the end of the fast. You have to wean yourself back onto food. I get to drink orange juice and eat vegetable broth the first day, maybe some veggie soup the second day.

Is it just me, or is that commercial where people dance with their Dirt Devil vacuum broom REALLY annoying????

Am I the only one that absolutely refuses to buy an iphone because I'd have to use AT&T? (Whether I will ever buy one or not when I can use another provider is irrelevant.) I hate AT&T.

Jo-Admin
12-13-2007, 10:00 AM
I was not happy with AT&T either, and then they went and bought the cell phone company I have my contact with (Cingular). I have/had a Cingular contract and a Verizon contract (six cell phones in the family). :( I have no desire to have an I-phone.

And the commercial I find really annoying...because I hear it soooo much..is the Taco Bell commerical where the guy working the drive-thru take an order, and then starts talking in the sexy low voice about the food someone ordered....

I hate the majority of commercials, which is probably why I have a child going into advertising...LOL!

I HAD a Cingular phone that I was very happy with until it was cancelled just weeks before the takeover of Cingular was final - so it wasn't "AT&T" that cancelled it, it was "Cingular". Yeah, right.

[quote=Jo-Admin]I have no desire to have an I-phone.

Ooooo, you are SO LUCKY! I am not big on gadgets nor knee-jerk consumerism, but ooooooo, iwant an iphone!!! I am just waiting patiently until they allow other carriers. Even though a part of me is totally disgusted with myself for being such a sucker! LOL But, hey, I still have my pride, I will never buy an iphone as long as AT&T is the only provider, but that's a good thing - heck, I've already "saved" $200.00 - no telling how much more I'll save in the future! :D

And the commercial I find really annoying...because I hear it soooo much..is the Taco Bell commerical where the guy working the drive-thru takes an order, and then starts talking in the sexy low voice about the food someone ordered....

Don't know that one, (see below) but it sounds annoying.

I hate the majority of commercials, which is probably why I have a child going into advertising...LOL!

Isn't that so often the way??? Years ago, people used to say, "If you want your kid to be rich, be a hippie; you'll greatly increase the odds that he/she will be a suit, carry a briefcase, and work for IBM." :)

Although there are some commercials that don't effect me one way or the other, there are others to which I have INTENSE reactions of love or hate! (Yeah, like that's a surprise! :p ) We've tried several times to start "commercials we love (or hate)" threads but they don't work because a suprisingly small number of commercials are shown nationally.

I love commercials. My favorite vaccuum in the commercial is the broom vac that goes squeeky squeeky squeek.

My current fave though, is the herbal essence commercial that shows this gorgeous shower of shiny wavy brown hair just bouncing and swishing looking very healthy and beautiful...then the person turns around and its a chubbby, older biker guy with a beard. lol.

Know what makes ME cranky? That stupid Barnyard cartoon that has a MALe COW with UDDERS!!

And the creator doesn't CARE. He says the udders aren't there to define gender - he just thinks udders are funny.

OK, so putting boobs on Tom & Jerry would be OK, too?

What idiots. And now it's on kids TV - teaching our children that male cows have udders.

My ex-husband is a twatwaffle. Plain and simple. Every time I wonder if it was a good idea to leave him, he pulls one of his stunts. Tonight was "stunt night".

So now I'm in a cruddy mood, and I turn to my YM for some solace. But when I call him, he tells me he's reading and can he call me later. Wait. Didn't you tell me you hated reading, unless you were really really really really really bored? So, talk to me and make me feel better! :aaaaaaack:

Ok. Rant over. I feel better now.

I know how you feel...I got pulled over back in October for having tags that were two days expired, driving my b/f car. I didn't even know the tag was expired!

And of course, being that it was not my car, I could not find the insurance card (I thought ALL people kept them in the glove box). So I ended up getting tickets for expired tag, no proof of insurance AND a broken tag light. I felt like one of those people on the show Cops...

YOU betcha.

I get even fewer days off than most of my other friends that work for private firms. I know other consultants who DID get Monday off! WHAT-ever.

If you want to get down to the nitty-gritty, yes, in some way our tax dollars probably contribute to every single person that gets holidays like Prez Day, Christmas, Labor Day, Memorial Day, etc. off.

But if you're talking about the fact that it seems like mostly gov't agencies get days like Prez Day or MLK Day (or here in CA...Caesar Chavez Day) off, and that's where the comment about our tax dollars came in...it ain't so.

Lots of private companies give their employees these days off, as well.

I'm rambling...sorry...
