THERE we go LOL /bonks self
Anyway the warning labels on that site are SO funny..even one for a dog! LOL
Haha! That is funny! One of my friends, an American woman who was married to a Frenchman and living in Paris for two decades, told me that every American she knew that lived in France was anti-Bush for both elections. And each time he won, it would be embarrassing for them to have to be questioned by their French acquaintances who couldn't understand why the American people would vote for someone such as awful as GW Bush.
Another American friend, while traveling in Europe several years ago, would prominently wear an anti-Bush button on her clothing. Her mom, a Republican, was very upset to hear what her daughter did on her trip.
I'm going to email this picture to both of these friends.
Harrison 08-19-2007, 12:57 AM LOL!! :D
Beautiful!! And actually very smart too.
Seriously, this is what you need to do if you are an American businessman or businesswoman working abroad trying to hustle up a dollar - you need to ACTIVELY disassociate yourself from George W. Bush.
This is how badly the "brand name" of the USA has been tarnished. There are some parts of the Arab world where I wouldn't feel comfortable traveling without an armed bodyguard. Either that or I'd try to fake my nationality. Tell people I'm from South Africa or some crap like that.
That's pretty bad when you need to disclaim your own nationality when you travel overseas. Or apologize for your President. But, you know what? It is NOT a cute joke in France. That's how profoundly offensive and distasteful our Commander-in-Chief is. Stop to think about it and it's really not a laughing matter.
I just find it very, very, very sad that people now view us the way President Reagan described the Soviet Union during the Cold War: An Evil Empire.
grumpysgirl 08-19-2007, 01:57 AM Both of you make great points and good stories. If I were selling clothing in another country I would do the SAME thing!

I wouldn't.
I don't see any country apologizing for the dumb ***** they elect, or dont elect, as in the case of dictatorships. There are many countries where there is more corruption, crime, ruling-stupidity, and overall situation than in the US.
Some US people are perennial apologists.
By the way, this is not new, this has been going on for decades.

Funny stuff!!! Thanks grumpysgirl!
grumpysgirl 08-19-2007, 04:15 AM I wouldn't.

I understand this and I respect your post..I realize there are countries that have way more crime and so on then us..however I think the situation of the war that we are in and how people from other countries do look at us..we should apologize for our stupidity :) I think someone needs to step up to the plate and be the bigger person and say Yes we are truly sorry :)
joelstrouble 08-19-2007, 05:21 AM The sad part is that people from outside USA actually can ask an American if they do or did vote for Bush. :(
The label is still hillarious thoug :D
Amina 08-19-2007, 05:50 AM I wouldn't.

I don't see any other country ruining the political climate of the world as quickly as we are, based on who we "elected"...
Being the most powerful should make us the most responsible, and when we've abused that power and shirked that responsibility then others deserve an apology.
whiterose 08-19-2007, 05:56 AM Hey gang, just wanted to bring to your attention a post I wrote a few moments ago on this thread. You probably haven't had a chance to read it yet:

We'd appreciate it if this thread does not turn into a discussion. Let's keep it as grumpysgirl intended, a light hearted laugh.
Thank you
PinkPanther_04 08-19-2007, 08:15 AM I think it's awesome. I don't care if there are other countries with worse presidents. I don't have to live in Zimbabwe or North Korea to think my country's president is a complete idiot and to regret that so many people were willing to vote for him.
Chatterbox 08-19-2007, 08:31 AM I wish I photoshopped, I'd make the flip side of the label: "Dixie Chicks' Designs"!
:D
eponavet 08-19-2007, 09:55 AM hmmmm....I don't know tiny....I can post on this thread.
I'll just say :
happy happy joy joy!!! :D

I wanted to clarify that my friend with the anti-Bush button (I think that it was the one with the red circle slash over his name), was not apologizing for Bush being our president. She's the most politically active friend I have, has a job working for the housing authority in her city and votes democratically, although she prefers the Green party. So it was more that she was indicating that she tried to do her part and didn't vote for Bush. She's really a great person. She is single and of Italian descent and has spent the last four years mentoring a black youth from her own block. He started out as her dog walker, then he asked for her help in giving his life structure as his own mother just didn't care about his schoolwork. She gave him a bedroom of his own in her house, helped with his homework, went to all of his track days and he got into a state college with a decent scholarship package. I actually drove them around the Northeast to look at a number of other colleges, like Dusquesne in Pittsburgh. And for all of that support, it's been all on her own dime.
Anyway, she is not an apologist.

Miu, it's SO very refreshing to hear of someone who can actually WALK THE WALK of compassionate care that extends beyond racial/ethnic boundaries and that truly makes a difference in peoples' lives.
I find that so much more inspiring than seeing a yellow ribbon stuck on a bumper or some hearing people worship a President because he's declared himself a "born again Christian" or some other trifling display of piety.
grumpysgirl 08-19-2007, 02:05 PM LOL It is good people can see that it is for craps and giggles. Sometimes we gotta sit back and laugh at our mistakes. Why dwell on it?
As I said before I would do the same thing...
chatter..your so :tongue2:evil LOL to funny!
