Ok the board was hacked tonight. I do not know how they got past the forum security scripts but they did, banned all of us, and closed the board.

I have a mess to clean up in the admin Control Panel, so I'll be in there for an hour or more.

PLEASE - everyone change your passwords, for security purposes.

I am SO glad you said that... imagine my devistation when I tried to log on and it told me I was banned for no reason and would NEVER be allowed back! I almost cried :(

I got in by viewing a posted thread from my e-mail notification...once I read the answers to my post, I went to the thread and was able to log in.

By the way... I'm a CEH, Network Security Engineer...so if you need some security help, send me an e-mail, I'd be happy to lend a hand...and tell you what the CEH stands for :D

Lately there have been many attempts to post advertising/spam threads, I wonder if somebody is trying to crack the system so they can do this via bot.

I was so upset today because I couldn't figure out what I did wrong, and I thought maybe someone hacked MY account and was posting spam or something! I too am concerned about the email addresses...

OK please disregard my emails asking what I had done wrong, I was so upset to find I had been banned and dind't know why so I wrote to the admin asking them to please tell me what I did to upset someone. I am so relieved to know it wasn't me...

I am back to having to go through my Private Messages in order to get into the site. It sure is a downer...

But AT LEAST I can get in. Like everyone else, I couldn't earlier today. :(

Wasn 't worried a bit because I knew that Ohio sweetheart would be on the job <g> :D and BTW she is correct change that password just foe a little cheap insurance <g>

Ohio, if it helps at all (can you track who was online at what time?), the site went down between 4:44 and 4:45 pm.

I was in the middle of moving a post and I thought I'd broken ageless somehow! :eek:

Well, I definitely knew something was wrong when one of the mods contacted me letting me know she was banned, and then I went to fix it and I was banned!

Thank God for Ohiosweetheart who swooped in from the sky like superman.

Change your passwords people...Can't believe there are people that don't have anything better to do than to hack into sites like that.

PS, you can change your password in your User Control Panel, and I suggest that everyone do this, especially the staff members.

To me, it was obvious that the site was hacked. I can't imagine having done anything so bad that I would be banned forever without being given a reason!

I heard about the "banning" from someone else, and when I went on the site to check it out myself I saw I was "banned" and I hadn't even logged in yet. So I figured it was a hacker; I didn't think I'd done anything so heinous that I was barred from even LOOKING at the website. :rolleyes:

Question, regarding personal information, e-mail addresses, etc., does "logging out" afford any protection?

I can't believe how many of you people could believe for a second that you were really banned. This is a site with reasonable rules, and mods, that would give us our warnings so, I never thought I was banned. I always suspected foul play.

I'm really glad to hear you post this Chatter. The same thing is happening to me, and I was suspect that it had something to do with my new Windows Vista.

I also still can't enter except through "the back door" i.e. my private message box. It's okay, but it's weird.

Since the hacking, pages on the site have taken far longer to load than they did beforehand. It's not my Net connection, as other sites work fine. Also, although I see the smilies, I can't click on them and get them into my posts or PMs.

i click 'remember me' but to no avail.
all my other favs load just fine. i checked my member settings. my comp is set to accept cookies, like it always has been. but i still have to now give my username and password every time i click Ageless on my favs list. and yup, i've tried re-saving Ageless to my favs after i've signed on. No Go.

Okay ... I am NOT saying that this will fix all the problems but it's worth a try.

I shut the puter down, unplugged the modem, unplugged the router, waited two minutes, plugged the modem back in, waited two minutes, plugged the router back in, waited two minutes, turned the computer back on; and I haven't had a problem since.

Pain in the butt, fer sure, and I won't know until it happens again if that's what fixed the problem or if it was a coincidence (because the problem has gone away before without me doing anything), but to get rid of the frustration of clicking, clicking, clicking and error message after error message and losing posts, it was worth it.

Have you tried clicking on "remember me?" I think that's what it's called. It's the little box that you check wherever you log in. That always works for me.

Click on "edit" (lower right corner), "delete" (lower right corner), check "Delete this message", then click on "Delete this message (lowest right corner).
