He visited me for the first time

The first day he was here was like a dream. I couldn't believe he was actually here and that I could hold him :p

We spent a lot of time together, depsite me not getting time off work. He met most of my family (more than anticipated because my uncle died and he accompanied me to the funeral) and we went everyplace.

We did lots of touristy type stuff alone and spent some family time together with my children, and then near the end of the month together we took off for three days up north and went fishing at my dad's cottage.

His visit renewed my faith in our future together.

He showed me more maturity and empathy than he has in the past, and we didn't argue as much.

I'm considering visiting him for Christmas, and we're already planning to spend next August together when he's on school/work vacation.

He's only been gone for a week but it already feels like years *sigh*

I am so happy for you, Charlotte!!! It has been a long road for you and that you prolly have some more miles to go... but at least now he is walking them with you!

Thanks everybody for the positive comments. I feel as though our future is more real but the present is still difficult, since we're still so far apart.

At least as you say, he made the trip and that's all I really wanted for now. I'd like him to visit again but at least now I don't feel a desperate fear that he isn't capable of bridging the distance gap.

I think what surprised me the most was that he got along really well with my brother, whom he had initially said he didn't even want to meet because of some silly webcam thing in the past.

I'm pretty excited about our future now :)

I am so happy that you guys finally closed that gap and that he was the one who did the traveling. I wish you strength as you go through another long stretch apart, but isn't it wonderful to have other visits to look forward to?

Nobody ever knows what the future brings.

I had followed your relationship in all your posts, and just was so happy to hear that he took the step and did it. I'm very proud of him and VERY happy for you!! For you both!

I had given him the ultimatum of visiting me or losing me. It wasn't fair that I was the only one making the trans-Atlantic flights so that we could be together. I'm VERY happy that he actually got on a plane!

I hope everything stays blissfully happy and that you are able to visit at Christmas and then.....who knows???? :D

My flight is already booked: Dec 20 - Jan 1

was a rocky road for a while...but big steps now!

how is your job going??

Last week I made top sales in the Central Toronto district at work (of 10 stores) and I'm in the process of training new staff to keep up with our increasing volume.

I'm enjoying the work, enjoying having more to do than sit around and brood over missing my man. :)

When I first joined this board I had been separated for a couple of years but still sharing an owned home with my ex, I hadn't worked in a decade and my children weren't all in school yet.

Now it's been over a year since my children and I moved into this apartment, a year since I started working and it's almost three years now since the first time my boyfriend and I met in person for the first time (after chatting online for a couple of years).

How time flies! He'll soon be pushing me around in a wheelchair! :tongue3:

hey charlotte,

just wanted to give you a high five for staying in the "game of life." i know it's been a struggle, and look how successful you've been at work...and your kids are all in school, you're surviving on your own, and WOW!

you've come a long way baby!
