Settlers! Is that game still going? I haven't played anything like that for years now, but my friend and I were talking a couple of weeks ago about Colonization, and how great it was.

I've been playing a lot of Medieval II: Total War (http://pc.ign.com/articles/745/745219p1.html) lately. It's an AWESOME game, especially when you're winning^^ It's a mix of controlling lots of settlements and castles on a map of Europe and North-Africa/Arabia, and fighting real-time battles with thousands of soldiers^^

I'm completely hooked^^
Also looking forward to the spring, when they'll be releasing the third expansions for Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War^^

It looking more awesome by the minute^^

And though it's not a video game, I also play some Warhammer 40,000. It's a tabletop strategy game with small miniatures^^

Yes I've seen Medieval II: Total War. Dev played the hell out of it. Those Total War games look fun.

There is a really cool table top store near us that we check out from time to time. They have several Warhammer standing games going on there. My hubby is really into Pirates (which is also a table top game), but there aren't a whole lot of others playing that around here which is a bummer for him.

That game sounds like something I'd like myself. But I'm sure Donna would wind up strangling me if I got it because I'd be on it all day!

A couple of my friends at school were into Warhammer, one had a table set up in his basement for it. I just liked to buy the miniatures and paint them. :)

Lord of the Rings Online~!!! GREAT game! My husband and I are both completely immersed. It's perfect for any kind of gamer, casual, or hardcore. We usually only group with each other, and there is so much to do we hardly ever even think about needing more people for any quests. There is crafting, questing, PVP ( you can play one of the bad guys with the Monster Play option whenever you get the urge), player houseing, horses...we love it.

If you play, look for us on the Niimrodel server. Inahnia (heh) and Boremac, or Jessmin and Gregoric. :)

I'm currently obsessed with halo 3 on my 360.

In between the last of my exams for the year I'm desperately trying to proof I'm at least half as good as my bf at it. We're very competitive :bgrin2:

Still playing my good ole "Nascar Racing Season 2003" currently with CTS07 Mod and Superspeedway.net's COT mod. I found a good profile for my Logitech Black Momo Wheel/Pedal combo. I pretty much follow the real season...and enter my own "Real World" racing season, so to speak

Currently I'm running a "limited schedule" offline....

The picture in my signature is from a few months ago....I did a "one off race" with BAM Racing...at Talladega. Coming out of turn four into the trioval, I got tagged by Kyle Busch and almost got airborne. Luckily the roof flaps caught hold and put me back down...

But now, I'm running my own Team, "Wayne County Speedshop"

And I don't suspect that makes a dang bit of sense to anyone but myself...*lol*

Last new game I played was Bioshock...all of this is for the PC of course.

Still playing WoW - don't have time for any other game and sticking to it for my guild, really, more than shere additiveness ;)

I kinda liked LotRO but as I don't have much time to play, one had to give way and it was easier to give up LotRO than WoW due to the personal network.

However, once Blizzard is coming out with another extension increasing lvl cap AGAIN, I am not sure I will stick with it .... :(

I enjoy FPS the most and have a Steam account. Currently, I'm playing Half-Life 2: Episode 2. I also have Prey, Infernal, Hitman: Blood Contracts, Call of Duty 2, Bioshock, and I'm waiting for Painkiller Overdose to become activated. I guess that makes me pretty covered. I occasionally play a friend or two online in Half-Life 2. Yeh, I'm luvn' it...

My top five favorites (in no particular order):

Doom
Rise of Nations
Civilization (II & IV)
Grand Theft Auto: Vice City
The Sims 2
As you can tell, I have a wide range of favorites. :D

I like the idea of a Top 5! Patrick your list rocks. I've played all those games and they are definitely worthy of a top 5 nomination.

I would really be pressed to pick a top 5, but quickly I would chose:

Dungeon Keeper
Warcraft (the entire series rocks)
Final Fantasy (VII would be my favorite but again, like the series)
Tropico
Battlefield (another series I love)

(Do you notice a pattern with me and these series games?) :D

Of course, as a gamer, I could easily come up with 20-30 more to add! Very good stuff to be said about Mario Bros., Pokemon, Diablo, Grand Theft Auto, Bomberman, Socom, Medal of Honor, and on and on and on. LOL!!!

But I'm sure all our lists would sound like this, eh? :p

Being in the biz, so to speak, I've noticed that when it comes to rpg's and really serious first person shooters (BF 2, BF 2142, Crysis, 1942, Hellgate: London etc), most players are definitely pc.

I've found that when it comes to sports games, the Maddens, NHL, FIFA, etc, the players all tend to be console players. Which is why I've never really gotten into trouble shooting consoles, and go to the sports team, and they have never really gotten into pc's, and come to our team.

Well sports isn't my thing either, but isn't that the main draw of EA anyway? I always wonder why people wanna play a video game of something they could go outside and play :P

And when you say 1942... do you mean the old shoot-em-up on the NES?? Loved that one :)

It was on pc too. In fact I have a copy of the EA Warfare Collection: BF 1942, BF 1942: The Road to Rome MoH: Pacific Assault; MoH: Allied Assault and BF Vietnam.

Oh, and though most people think that EA is sports...they also do the Sims, and everything else I spend 40+ hours a week supporting.

Snohma, she means Battlefield 1942, awesome game. (Celt we play BF2, BFV, BF2142)

We're back to playing WoW. We rerolled with Marcy, Devon, and a friend of theirs.

So that should be fun. Woot!

Perhaps but PCs have so many variables to keep upgraded and updated just to keep a game running, it's a huuuuuge money sink. Consoles are one easy price, all games made for it are guaranteed to work on it, no worrying about the graphics card not being strong enough or the codecs being missing. :D

'sides, only games that really come out for the pc are mmorpgs and SHOOTAN GAEMS and I'm not interested in either :tongue2:

Each time a new game comes out it's the risk you take with the PC. So you are right that the major advantage with a console system is the game will work.

Though, I've only had one large upgrade since I bought my computer 4 years ago. (Wow, I can't believe it's been that long!)

I had to upgrade ram and my video card (from prehistoric to mid range). I paid about $ 250.00 for that total upgrade. I don't consider that a bad price to pay in 4 years for the games and graphics I'm getting in return for that investment. My computer plays the latest games on the market (Call of Duty 4, WoW, BF 2142, Sim Societies) without trouble. Though I don't deny that the new gen consoles do attract me because their graphics are hawt now.

While console gaming does alleviate the risk of 'will it play' it does bring forth some of it's own risk factors. Between me and my fiance, we went through 4 PS2s (we used to dual box Everquest) due to the infamous 'disc read error' issue. That's at least $ 700.00 out the door and we're down to one working PS2. I went through 2 PS1's as well, so I'm not quick to drop $ 400- $ 500 on another 'well made' system by Sony because I can't afford to replace it if it breaks. With the cost of a new gen console I am extremely hesitant to invest.

The fan on our Xbox went kaput and we have to run an external fan on it and baby it now.

The Xbox 360 suffers a core process error where it won't let you boot up. It also had issues with disc feed.

The Wii had similar problems with discs immediately ejecting on feed. Though on a side note I've rarely had issues with Nintendo. They've been the most reliable systems in my personal experience.

PS3 I haven't researched much so I can't speak there, but it had overheat issues when it first came out. But it's Sony and I have no doubts they have their issues.

Unless you spend money on an extended warranty for the system if it fails you're out the money to ship the product back and gaming time. Of course you can void the warranty trying to fix it yourself, but, again, not a worry-free investment.

None of this adds in the additional cost you'll pay for memory cards, accessories, game controllers, online play (Xbox), or hard drives (Xbox as well...does Microsoft give you anything).

Then with each generation of console the issue of backwards compatibility comes up. And sadly the answer is changing from 'yes definitely' to 'sometimes' as with the current systems. So there goes all your old games unless you keep the original system from breaking.

Now I love console gaming, don't get me wrong, but it's definitely not a worry free investment to make. Is it cheaper than a computer? At one time I would have said indeed, but with the way their cost is spiraling up to keep up with technology I'd say yes still, but not by that much.

I haven't thought about this much.

I really went back and forth on buying a console or bringing another PC into my home. Unlike a console system, I can pass some of my PC upgrades down, which is what I ultimately decided to do. But how I long for a PS3 and Xbox 360 to add to my collection.

Halo and GTA alone are enough to qualify each system purchase to me. It's a good thing I'm broke and can't afford anything! :D

WOW for me though I have a friend trying to get me to come over to EQ with him. I basically log on for the pvp my guild is begging for raiders but I just joined and then split with the bf. Sooo a bit of being uncomfortable.

Just upgraded big time on my computer, it had always been a hand me down and since the split from the hub I went out and bought a quad processor machine build for gaming and upgraded the old computer so I can dual box play.

Hey congrats on that awesome upgrade! I'm jealous, I admit! :tongue2:

Ugh, a break-up? Yeah that's an uncomfortable place to be. Are you all on speaking terms or is it recent?

I tried EQ2 and didn't like it in comparison to WoW. I like being able to solo a bit and all the character spaces (WoW is very generous). I love EQ for the things you can do in the game (and houses!) but they have so many expansions coming out all the time that it's hard to manage a monthly fee x 2 and all the expansions x2.

If you do play EQ2 let me know how you like it. I never left newbie island.

Well I now have in my possession Ace Combat 6 so I've been playing that.

Mom also bought my lil nephew a game cuz he's crazy about Spiderman. She wanted me to play that one through so I can help out when he or mom runs into trouble with it.

The one she got was with several superheros in it and you can swap being this superhero or that one.

It's an older game but still fun. It's on the PS2.

I've taken a liking to Iron Man. What's more fun than being a rich billionaire in a comic book world anyway?

His office building, Stark Tower is the ****! If I had a place like that, I'd make it my home. Super nice :)

What am I playing (besides AL)? I decided to cool my jets and step away from this place a little and I have wasted (oooh..did I say "wasted") away this snowy Sunday playing Super Paper Mario. I have been trying for the better part of a week to get past the Big Tree (chapter 3) and this morning the genius in me figured out all I needed was a catch card to get rid of that flower thingy that kept blowing out sleep and knocking me all the way back down to the bottom of the tree, where I had to start all over. I'm still in my bathrobe and its almost 7:30pm.

I loved the dialog with Francis (the big nerdy toad techno geek). Between the comics and the action figures and his penchant for "hot girls" he reminded of me of my BF. I love being the "hot girl."

I really am having fun!

Gotta go give the paper scroll to the dude in the outhouse (he's outta toilet paper.)
