Four Years Ago

Four years ago we met for real. Four years ago we kissed for the first time. Four years ago... wow, time flies! I still remember my first panicky hour at the airport when I could not see him (he was in the wrong building) and worrying I was not going to recognize him. I remember the first time I saw him, thinking that he did not quite look like his picture or our webcam sessions. But he was there... looking for meeeeeee!

Tonight, I asked him what he remembered of our first time together, he remembered walking in the park, ducks, a bridge, the Matrix... being sad because we were going to say goodbye, maybe forever.

For those of you in LDR. Hang in there! :)

What a sweet message!

Strangely enough, four years ago I was in a LDR with my man. I had moved from MI to KY; he had plans to follow, but we were separated for three months while he wrapped stuff up. We had been long distance before that even; when in MI, we lived about two hours from each other.

Time does fly, and long distance relationships can work. I do hope everyone who is in one knows this!

Thanks for making me think back and remember, and know how lucky I am now.

Lots of positive thoughts for those still slugging out the long distance stuff. :)

Congrats Sheila, and thank you for sharing!:) I celebrated the first anniversary of our first meeting on October 20. Unfortunately, it seems we've still some way to go before we can be together (thanks to the barriers erected by human beings in order to 'defend' their countries or whatever) - but our love is stronger than ever, and we are all set to overcome those roadblocks. Here's to many, many more years of happiness to you and all of us!

Thank you Lara, Angel, Jenny and HS. Last night we had a nice dinner and we were so happy. Although we are not LDR anymore, we are still from different countries and cultures and we still face LDR issues, like Visas, green card, travel. One day all these things will be solved! I hope.

Awwwwww Sheila! I read your post and a big smile crept across my face and a warm feeling enveloped my body and I'm not in a long distance relationship. I can only imagine what this post has done for people who are apart right now! Very inspiring and it's obvious how much you two are in love. You are at a great place in your relationship, cherish each other!

That's just great Sheila! Here you are, building a future, one day at a time. I hope to be in the same position 2 years from now... living the day to day with my SO!

Congrats, Sheila!!!

When I read your post it takes me back to the first time I met Joel IRL 2,5 year ago... and when I think back, I don't think that even if I could.. I wouldn't have traded the way I got to know him online and then after meet him IRL ... not even when I think of all longing and pain from having to be half a wold apart before we got married and him moving here...

So stay in there LDR's

very lovely post, Sheila. Congrats for making it this far and holding on to your love for each other.

I remember meeting Bob in person for the first time, three years He drove to Pittsbugh and we met at the Barnes & Noble in my neighborhood. To say I was nervous was an understatement! However, I think our first meeting went better than I ever could of expected. :)
