sbux_addict 11-15-2007, 06:00 PM Ok, ok, so Thanksgiving in the US is coming up and I think it would be nice to reflect back on the year and write down here what you're thankful for. It could be anything at all, even as simple as, "I'm thankful I'm still breathing..." or something profound like "I'm thankful that my mother recovered from breast cancer..." what-have-you.
As for me, despite everything I've gone through, I think this has been the best year of my life. Earlier in the year, after 3 years, I ended a relationship with a man my age; Moved out of my parents' house after 24 years; Got myself a new job, after 2 years of slaving myself away; Gave up partying and drinking every weekend; and finally, I met the man who will change my life forever.
I think I've matured a whole lot, and have grown a lot as a person this year. I'm thankful for the lessons learned; I'm just thankful for everything...
How about you?
dbexx 11-15-2007, 06:29 PM I'm thankful that I no longer own a bar, thankful that not owning the bar has enabled me to spend more time with friends, family, loved ones and my husband. I'm thankful that I have been able to start studying again.
This is new to me, we don't celebrate thanksgiving in the UK, but its fun! I could go on and on!

I'm happy to see you thinking positive thoughts SA. The healing has begun...
I am thankful that everyone I'm close to is in good health.
I am thankful that my OM did not suffer any serious injuries when he met in an accident last Friday. It caused me to think about the possibility of not
having him in my life and I never want to have to face such a day!:(
I am thankful that my country did not suffer a direct hit from a hurricane this year.
I'm thankful that my om and I have emerged stronger after a turbulent period a few months ago.
Angel 11-15-2007, 06:57 PM I am thankful everyday that God shows me enough grace to give me another day to do things better than I did yesterday.
And I continue to pray that each day I am a bit more humble than I was the prior day. And that I welcome life's experience and rise above the trappings of gossip. I pray to always be aware of the power of my words and learn each day to wield them against no one, especially myself.
Thank you so much for this thread! I hadn't thought about being thankful and prayer in a bit, but you made me take a second and now I think this would be the perfect prayer to say over Thanksgiving dinner!

Trying to...sometimes I relapse, and next thing you know, I feel really down. I guess it's hard to forget a person that has left an indelible imprint in you. But it's all part of the healing process, eh? I cannot wait for the day when I'm completely over the sadness when I think about him...I might be close.
I am thankful that my country did not suffer a direct hit from a hurricane this year.
I'm thankful that my om and I have emerged stronger after a turbulent period a few months ago.
Those are things really to be thankful for! Where I'm from, you hardly ever think of natural calamities.
You and your OM seem like the perfect couple! I'm somewhat envious...what's your secret? ;)

We are perfect for each other, but do not have a perfect relationship. We went through a rough period a few months ago and I chose not discuss the issue here since I didn't want to be influenced by other people's opinions as only myself and close friends really understand the events of the 7yrs ( almost 8) that we've been together.
I'm doing individual counseling and we are doing couples counseling (partly marriage,). We have a strong foundation which is love and friendship which means that we can face the turbulence together if we keep our commitment to always put the other person first.
Our secret? communication, communication and more communication.
When issues arise talk about them openly, but choose your battles wisely. Learn to know what is worth hashing out with your partner and what you can work out on your own or by talking to a trusted friend.
