What does your Ageless sign on name mean? Why did you choose it? What other handles do you use online, and why?

My Ageless name "Lara Steel" is one I use all over the web, and have for years.

I read a book as a kid--long before TombRaider even existed--where the main character's name was Lara. The name was explained to mean "shining" and "of great destiny." I loved that meaning, and adopted it for myself. I add the "steel" for strength, as a personal reminder to be strong.

As for my real name, here's the meaning from the link above. It is eerily true, most of it. :)

Oh wow, I didn't even know that that was the NYSE symbol for starbucks! Hehehe. But yes, my handle was supposed to be the abbreviation for starbucks, which, all this time, I thought was me and my friends' pure invention. That's what we text each other everytime we decide to have coffee there.

Anyhow, I chose that SN because I wanted to be anonymous on here. Everybody who knows me knows that I don't like coffee AT ALL. So, I thought that if I posted a handle like that, that people will not suspect that it's me. Just wanted to protect the OM, and of course myself, because if you google his name up, there's probably about 10 pages about him on the net. Paranoid, much? I think so...now, I don't really mind at all.

My first Bernese Mountain Dog was named Zolie. I picked that name by drawing scrabble letters from a bag. I got an O, L, and Z. The other combinations didn't even make sense!

When I moved to Africa, I found out that her name means beautiful in Swahili, and I thought that was very fitting! She was the best dog in the world (no offense to my boy Catch, who I adore), and I always loved her name so I appropriated it for myself.

I am always a strwbrries, or some form with the word Strwbrries in it.

I love strawberries and yes I have a name that states that lol. The i love strawberries name was my first internet name ever and I still use it from time to time but over time it has evolved to Strwbrries or Brries depending if some other person steals my name on a website lol.

Because I LOVE strawberries, I love to eat them. I have used the name Guinavere (with an "A") for quite a few years online. I use it on all the places I am a member. I love the Arthurian legends...and I love the mystery surrounding the Queen. I picked my screen name as a reminder of the meaning of my name. I spent a lot of years as an abused woman, a child that was abused, and had low self worth in some areas of my psyche. I went to a christian study that explained how we are named by God, long before we are born.. I found this really fascinating, and searching the meaning of my names discovered lily and grace as part of my names meanings. I also realized there is worth in those- as I am a flower and flowers are appreciated for their beauty, and their fragrance. My life is also a testimony to God's grace in our lives, as some of the things I have been through in my life, would have destroyed many other individuals. The lily is also a symbol of Christ, so I was surprised that God would have given me that beautiful gift within my name, and I truly hope that the lily within me is more visible than my own innner self.. When I was a freshman in college I had a Muslim friend who said that every budding Muslim should be given an "attribute name" - or a name/word in Arabic that describes a strong characterstic about them. She said I was "amina" (ah-meen-a) which is most commonly translated to "trustworthy" and it was also the name of the Prophet Mohamed's mother. This is my 2nd incarnation on Ageless. My first was katmeup7, a name which I just made up one evening years ago, when trying to come up with an anonymous email address...I was thinking "beam me up Scotty," but kat me up 7, came into my head.

I actually prefer that name, but I was discovered on here as a result of someone googling, so I switched to what I am now, which is just my real life nickname, and the day I was born in November. My license plate also says Kat7...which tells you what a dork I really am. Someone could easily google my plate too...

Great thread, Lara. My screen name, "Pasquali," is the name of the main character from Lina Wertmuller's classic film, Seven Beauties. It's about a schmuck who's the lone son in a family of seven sisters and a mother, and - much in the Wertmuller's vein - ironically, none of the seven sisters are beauties. I recommend anyone watching the movie. It's Italian, but you can either watch it with subtitles or dubbed into English. I've seen this movie at least seven times (no pun intended). Several years ago, during Washington DC's annual Foreign Film Festival, Lina Wertmuller was hosting a screening of her latest film at the Biograph Theater in Georgetown and I failed to make it. I kick myself to this day because I wanted to tell her how much I love her for her genius. Seven Beauties and Swept Away are classics that any movie lover should see. I was a biker chick and everyone had a nickname lol......when I wasn't raising hell with the bikers, I was in my ballet classes (odd blend, I know) and I am relatively small so.....it seemed to fit lol.....to this day, most people where I grew up wouldn't know me by my real name LOL!

Ventured into this area of the forums for the first time, and this post looked fun!

My screen name is my Japanese middle name. Usually not taken when it comes to forums, but was a bit surprised to find that it's not so easy to get it on email!

Well I chose this name a long time ago, its from a song. The singer says alot of things about childish monsters and such, but it was the one line "a spider's love bite may find you tonight" that i fell in love with. I don't know why but it reminded me of alot of problems I've had. I was the only half black child in school and it was really hard finding true meaningful relationships, so i had become sort of a recluse, believing that none of my relationships were real. Then I realized that it was up to me to find meaningful relationships and make them work. I became very open to the idea that you can't plan love. A spider bite kind of creeps up on you, just like love. And I am a very amorous person.:) So despite the gloom of the song, it makes me smile every time.
